One team I've followed over the past few years is Charlotte. I believe they have won more games in which they've failed to cover the spread than any other team in college basketball over the last 5 years. I remember seeing them play Memphis about 5 years ago laying around 7. They built up a 30 point lead in the second half, then watch things unravel as they had to hold on for a 5 pt non covering win. Last night was more of the same; no big leads to blow, just a 5 pt spread to miss covering in a 3 pt win.

because at first glance them and memphis both had plus numbers in their avg. home scores, road scores and total scores as well as both having winning records in conf and non conf. so for the most part and to start with i look for teams that upon first examination have the winning advantantage over the other in those first 5 catagories. in other words i look for the automatic winner, from that point go on to put the numbers down to find out by how much this team has a chance to win by. charlotte didnt have that "automatic" or preliminary look against memphis last nite.
i got some numbers on wisc. and gonz. that look pretty good, not great but nothing wildcard.

i just got home and i put some numbers on memphis and charlotte and i came up with

charlotte to win by 1.05 to 1.45.

both teams are on the plus side and the margin for error in my number just wasnt high enough to make either team a bet, but all in all my number did force you to give memphis a look at +5.

memp. is 4-0 on the road as a dog
char. is 3-5 at home as the fav.

char. beat uab away 91-85 +
memp. lost to uab away 70-73 -

char. beat e.carl at home 72-60 +
memp. beat e.carl. at home 72-66 +

char. avg. score at hm. is 84.7 - 74.9 +
memp. avg. score at away is 68.9 - 65.1 +

char. av. sc. away is 72.2 - 72.7 -
memp. av. sc. at hm. is 70.7 - 63.3 +

char av.sc. hm. and aw. is 78.9 - 72.7 +
memp. av. sc. hm. and aw. is 69 - 65.7 +
