I recently tried to uninstall an old version of Windows Media Player and install Windows Media Player 9.0. However, when I try to play an audio file, it says something to the effect of "Not installed properly." I can't get to anything from the Control Panel that'll uninstall it again, what should I do?

Add/ Remove programs?

Tom, tried that, didn't work, and right now, it's moot, lol. Got it installed, although I'm having a different problem. I tried to test it out, and it always says, "An internal application error has occurred."

Hey, different problems, I must be doing something right! :D

Bubbles,

I thought Windows Media Player version 10 was the latest. At least that's the version I'm using these days.

How about deleting WMP version 9 and installing version 10? Would that help?

I strongly doubt it. I don't think that's the error I'm dealing with.

Hey Bubbles,

There is a pretty good Remove Programs tool built into Crap Cleaner. It's better than the Windows version, probably worth a try.

Bubbles,

You didn't mention what version of Windows, but you might want to try this:

Reregister Jscript.dll and Vbscript.dll

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regsvr32 jscript.dll, and then click OK.
3. Click OK.
4. Click Start, and then click Run.
5. In the Open box, type regsvr32 vbscript.dll, and then click OK.
6. Click OK.

Maybe this will work.

I find that installing Media Player upgrades over the old version (not uninstalling) works well for me. I have had that error you mention before, and the over-install did the trick. I have Windows XP.
