Ok, turning the page from that ugliness tonight :)

Odds to win the 2005 World Series.. Tough to take anyone other than
the Sox or Yanks.. But 8/5 for the Yanks is too low.. 6/1 on Sox is
very interesting..
For a longshot pick maybe the Braves? Or Twins?

That's a great point.. I don't think they lost a ton, Beltran was good, but not irreplaceable..

8-1 is a joke on the Mets and while I consider the Cubs a contender, 4-1 is definitely not value. They probably figure those teams are going to take a certain amount of money regardless so the bettors are really paying a tax on these public teams.

Hard to believe that the Cubs would be favored more than the Red Sox.

4/1 on the Cubs is mind boggling..

They lost Sosa and Clement.. And they weren't even a WS contender last year..

6/1 on Sox is very tempting..

Without looking too closely yet, these jump out as price plays. Haven't looked at the value aspect yet:

Arizona 30/1
Seattle 30/1

Both have spent lots of $ to improve.

Atlanta 20/1

Schuerholz always has them in contention

Boston 6/1

They are the defending World Champs

Dodgers 30/1

I have to look much closer...

Floriday 17/1

Interesting

Value Play has to be Tigers at 75-1, not saying they will win but 75-1 on a team that is moving forward is good enough for me

I can't see them making the playoffs..

Hey, I want to play the Phillies at 25/1, but hard to think anyone other than the Sox and Yanks has a shot

But if Phillies get there and play Yanks or Red Sox you are taking 25-1 instead of 2-1 or 3-1 which would be Series price. :)

If the Phillies get there, I will be drunk for 2 straight weeks, so I wouldn't bet a thing

The Cubs are very much a contender and were considered a major disappointment last year but they still almost won 90 games. But no, at 4-1 I wouldn't bet them. The Cubs are a public team, thanks to WGN, and they will always be underlaid in the futures. Burnitz will probably put up numbers similar to Sosa's from last year: 30 HRs, .250 BA 150 Ks.

40-1 on Houston is very tempting. I mean , thats up there for a talented team.

Do they have odds to make play-offs? Wonder what Astros have for that end?

Houston is 40-1 for a reason. No Beltran, no Kent, Wade Miller is gone and what is Clements now, 42? Bagwell and Biggio are clearly on the downslide.
