In my opinion, He was the greatest 2 year old I have seen in the last 30 years. And if there are others here who have had the opportunity to see him, you will know that he was quite the gentleman - unlike Danzig.

Talk about nostalgia. Saw him break his maiden at Saratoga with Angel Cordero up. Where has the time gone?

Sad news for sure. The hype behind this horse as a juvenile was big. Unfortunate injury took him out of the game, and we never really knew just how "great" he could have been. Devil's Bag was one of several that was looked upon to be "the next Secretariat."

But of course the injury to Devil's Bag didn't stop Woody Stephens from winning the Derby, and extending his streak in the Belmont as Swale came along. Another brilliant, beautiful runner.

That 3 YO crop of 1984 is one of the two or three deepest I've seen since I've been following racing. The 1984 Flamingo is the race that "made" Bailey.
