Quotes from the Dem Underground this week:

"The Iraq vote is making me sick this morning," reads the subject line on a DemocraticUnderground posting from "ShinerTX," which encapsulates the Angry Left's response to freedom's triumph in Iraq:

All the media keeps talking about is how happy the Iraqis are, how high turnout was, and how "freedom" has spread to Iraq. I had to turn off CNN because they kept focusing on the so-called "voters" and barely mentioned the resistance movements at all. Where are the freedom fighters today? Are their voices silenced because some American puppets cast a few ballots?

I can't believe the Iraqis are buying into this "democracy" bullsh--. They have to know that the Americans don't want them to have power, because they know that Bush is in this for the oil, and now that he finally has it he's not going to let it go. This election is a charade. The fact is that the Iraqis have suffered during the past two years more than any people on earth at the hands of the American gestapo. Maybe they're afraid and felt they had to vote. That's the only way I can explain it to myself.

OR--I just thought of this--maybe they're smiling because they're using the Americans own game to defeat them. They're voting in candidates who they know will widen the resistance, take the fight to the streets, and finally drive the occupying forces out of their country. Perhaps they're smiling because--right under the Americans noses--they're planting the seeds of a bigger and more effective resistance movement. Wouldn't that be fitting? Use *'s own tools against them?

We can only pray that this is the case. Because if it's not--and if the Iraq vote is seen as a success that spread "freedom"--the world is screwed. Bush's inaugural speech left little doubt that he has other countries on his list to spread "freedom" to. They will be his next targets, and the world will burn because of it.

Let's hope the resistance got voted in, or if not, they only increase the fight and take down those who betrayed their country today by voting in this fraud election.

Ralph, you're forgetting the other awesome thread where they did their best 46Sec imitation and called us soldiers over here psychopaths. I want to see the DU broadcast into every home in America, lets get those folks on TV. They will guarantee a conservative majority for generations. Every day, you will see threads where they spout socialism, talk about how evil America is, openly say that they do not support the troops over here, compare Republicans to Nazis, and root for the terrorists to win in Iraq. Nice bunch of lefties there.

The 10 Worst Quotes From The Democratic Underground For 2003

by John Hawkins

10) "A war of real information and real issues alone is doomed to fail. The Texas Fascist Party carries elections by drawing the hordes of stupid white men who are itching to 'get even' for decades of imagined slights. Arguing issues with these people is pointless.

These people are not interested in issues, social justice, or even the fact that the US government will go bankrupt in a decade. All they want is to get back at welfare mothers, blacks, Arabs, immigrants, liberals, feminists, and intellectuals for shrinking their paychecks and threatening their masculinity. They are a nation of psychopaths created and sustained by right-wing hatred and are utterly beyond the limits of reason.

The way to approach this vital segment of the electorate is not with issues but rather with propaganda. Speak to their hatred and direct it not towards the goals of the Texas Fascist Party but rather against them. Make them hate not liberals for raising taxes but rather offshoring that deprives them of their jobs. Make them hate big government which takes from hard working people such as themselves and gives it to the rich. Chanelling hatred, not addressing issues, is the challenge for resistance propagandists." -- Resistance Is Futile (http://www.rightwingnews.com/archives/week_2003_10_05.PHP#001393)

--

9) "Doesn't a part of you wish that Queasy and Duh-day were alive?

I'll admit they're scum and rightfully so, but anything that lands as even more humiliation on W's grotesque shrivelled face is that much the better.

It's sad, really, that as despicable as they are, Saddam's family seems to be the lesser of two evils when you compare them to the wretched little b*stard* occupying the White House and destroying America in the process..." -- thermodynamic (http://www.rightwingnews.com/category.php?ent=1159)

--

8) "I'm assuming (Michael Kelly's) family won't be reading this, but frankly, I'm gratified to learn that he paid the ultimate price for his sins of warmongering. This guy was scum. My first thoughts on seeing the thread were that I hoped it was that scum Post warmongering writer. My second thought was that it was a late April Fool's joke. But no false sadness from me, only happiness that someone as mean and vicious as Mike Kelly got what was coming. As for all the posts about "coming by his views honestly" and "not speaking ill of the dead", congratulations on taking the high road guys, but *ssholes like Kelly have to die sometime, and I prefer it is as a direct result of their sins. But what do I know, I'm happy that Reagan has Alzheimers and that * has access to pretzels. I wish death on my enemies, and these guys are enemies." -- jackswift (http://www.rightwingnews.com/crackpots/kelly.php) on the death of Michael Kelly in Iraq

--

7) "well...I guess I'm "supposed" to feel good about (Saddam being captured) Because he is a "brutal dictator" who "killed thousands of his own people."

But he was also a guy who posed no threat to us. And a guy who managed to keep a hostile area of the world relatively sedate (albeith through brutal tactics). And a guy who was a secular muslim leader instead of a hardcore fundamentalist.

But I think in cold, crass political terms. I think it's good for Bush so I think it's bad for me. So I'm not happy, and I don't care if it's politically incorrect to say so." -- Magic Rat (http://www.rightwingnews.com/category.php?ent=1589)

--

6) "...We know the recall's about getting a Repub Gov. in office in order to make California easier to steal, or make the 2004 Election at least close ENOUGH to steal our precious Electoral votes. We know it has nothing to do with Gray Davis being crummy, really.

...I think Rove's got something particularly nasty up his sleeve this time that will change Arnold's fortunes dramatically. I mean, he's about to subject himself and Maria to more salient stories about what he calls "getting my helmet polished." This could be humiliating to him, even before he loses. But what if he "knew" the fix was in?

...My tinfoil hat theory is this:

ROVE/BUSH/CHENEY ARE GOING TO INSTIGATE SOME MIHOP (made it happen on purpose) TERROR ATTACK, BIO ATTACK IN THE US, MAYBE CALIFORNIA, WHEREBY CALIFORNIANS WILL BE CLAMORING FOR A "STRONG" GOVERNOR TO PROTECT US! THEY CAN FINISH THE JOB ENRON STARTED, AND GET A REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR TO HAND THEM THE STATE IN 2004." -- CaptainMidnight (http://www.rightwingnews.com/category.php?ent=1221)

--

5) "The capture of Saddam is all fine and good, but does how does this help someone facing a bleak Christmas because they lost their job? How does this help someone with an illness who just lost their insurance coverage? How does this help someone who's underemployed, working several jobs and struggling to pay the mortgage? It just don't make me any money." -- bushwentawol (http://www.rightwingnews.com/category.php?ent=1589)

--

4) "..I expect that the A**HOLES and Sons of B****ES at www.rightwingnews.com will try to smear us first with stupid EDITED POSTS then insist that the feds arrest all of us as traitors. Typical of a Nazi group. Typical of low-life Fascist and Racist Pigs. They will try to scare us off. These people fear free speech because it tears their mask off. I have ONE MESSAGE for them...

Well, you ba****ds, bring it on. I ain't afraid of your f***in jails. Bring it on, you worthless bunches of s**t! You saltless wastes of human skin!

Turn me in! Have ME arrested! Go ahead, you idiots! Bug my telephones! Follow me! Spy on me! Track me down through the internet! VIOLATE my constitutional rights! I hate this stupid oil-war fever! NO WAR for BIG OIL AND SUVs! NO WAR! The ROTUS SUCKS! ARREST ME for giving that chimpanzee the "finger!!" THE ROTUS SUCKS!

And so does his useless, worthless, politically motivated war! And so do YOU, you products of a bowel movement! You are a worthless bunch of morons who want to feed us all to the cannons while you (chickenhawks ) sit next to your swimming pools! Have ME arrested for SPEAKING OUT! Bring it on! Turn ME in as a traitor to your Joe McCarthy Homeland Security, you goose-stepping, "HEIL HITLER" fools!

I hereby challenge you!

I GUARANTEE that you a**holes will regret the day you were born if you mess with this black woman.

Steal and PRINT THIS POST, if you dare!

(Forgive me Lord--this really made me mad!)" -- brensgrrl (http://www.rightwingnews.com/archives/week_2003_01_12.PHP#000550)

3) "When the 2nd plane hit the WTC I remember thinking......OMG, he's got his war now. Then, the next day or the day after that, when the roar of "war with Iraq and Afganistan" really got going I couldn't help but think "well Bush II get's to finish Daddy's work now". As for when the plane hit the Pentagon and the other plane went down in that field in Penn I screamed at the TV, "Get the WH, for God's sake you missed the WH." I invented some cuss words on that one. There were times before 9/11 as well as in the days to follow that the boy king mentioned Saddam "tried to kill my Dad" and couldn't help but scream at the TV each time, "Well, give him a medal for effort anyway." -- LiberalLibra (http://www.rightwingnews.com/crackpots/thinking.php)

2) "What we MUST realize in order to win - Americans are stupid and uninformed. This is very important because in order to win we must understand the way the average American thinks. I'm afraid WE have nothing in common with them.

I came to the two following conclusions when I saw the large number of people who voted for Bush back in 2000.

#1 - I would dare to assume that most of us here are in the upper 1%-20% of the population intelligence-wise. We must come to the realization that the majority of the population is in the lower 80% to 99% percent of the bell-curve. WE are not the norm. The Republicans understand that the average American is not very bright. They cater and pander to the masses. The Democratic Party tries to appeal to the population about "issues" that these people just don't understand.

I've heard it said that the reason that Clinton's sex scandal resonated so strongly among "the people" was because it was a scandal that the average American understood. The average person can't understand a financial scandal.

In addition, people of average or lower intelligence tend to not be as logical or reasoned as those of higher intelligence - they deal with emotion. Therefore they are more likely to get riled up about someone burning a flag rather than a illogical tax cut.

#2 - The majority of people do not read the newspaper OR listen to the news, CNN, etc. Therefore -they get their news from the Tonight Show, Letterman, Oprah and Saturday Night Live. Or, they get their news from talking to their co-workers at the water cooler.

Also, for the few people who DO listen to the news - who do they hear it from? Fox News and Bill O'Reilly are the most popular. Most newspapers and media outlets are owned by Republicans.

THIS is what we are fighting against people. In order to win we will need to start pandering to the masses." -- Janekat (http://www.rightwingnews.com/category.php?ent=1399)

1) "I realize that not every GI Joe was 100peeercent behind Prseeedent Booosh going into this war; but I do know that that is what an overwhelming number of them and their famlies screamed in the face of protesters who were trying to protect these kids. Well, there is more than one way to be "dead" for your country. They are not only not accompishing squat in Iraq, they are doing crap nothing for the safety, defense of the US of A over there directly. But "indirectly" they are doing a lot. The only way to get rid of this slime bag WASP-Mafia, oil barron ridden cartel of a government, this assault on Americans and anything one could laughingly call "a democracy", relies heavily on what a sh*t hole Iraq turns into. They need to die so that we can be free. Soldiers usually did that directly--i.e., fight those invading and harming a country. This time they need to die in defense of a lie from a lying adminstration to show these ignorant, dumb Americans that Bush is incompetent. They need to die so that Americans get rid of this deadly scum. It is obscene, Barbie Bush, how other sons (of much nobler blood) have to die to save us from your Rosemary's Baby spawn and his ungodly cohorts." -- Starpass (http://www.rightwingnews.com/category.php?ent=1474)

Ralph, is there a list of 2004 quotes yet?

Two things that are scary - one for all Americans, and one for those of us on PA.

The first is, item #10 sounds like the Dem campaing plan this past year - glad to see their propoganda effort failed. The second things is - this is the site where it seems 46Sec and others get their ideas before posting them here.

But they are balking.............. the war is about oil again too.....and Bush is responsible for 9-11 and is planning another attack...

sample from the post.........

"I'm afraid that I cannot keep enabling the enablers of the * Administration with a financial contribution at this time. I was so pleased to contribute during the 2006 election cycle because I thought there would be noticeable change in America. We are still occupying Iraq. We are still spied on by our government. Habeas Corpus is suspended. Detention centers are being built. The president continues to erode the Constitution, you know, what he called that "GD piece of paper" with executive orders to do such things as seizing a person's finances for protesting Iraq.

I could go on, but I don't want to bother you with life outside the gated community. You're a busy woman. But, you know how it is when you have a bad hair day? It's just that the bad day has gone on since 2000 when the Supreme Court stopped the counting of the votes in Florida or else "Candidate * would suffer irreparable harm." Other countries call this a coup d'état.

I do congratulate you on the first 100 legislative hours, though. Especially that part about 9/11 Commission recommendations because we may get to test those out. I don't know if you listen to Thom Hartmann, but he had a former Reagan official on his show and he said he thought the administration was going to let another attack occur on this country so that we rally behind him and the GOP again. I know that's tin foil hat material, but a growing number of us no longer believe the government's official conspiracy theory about 9/11. "

Border agents sent to prison
Angry Republican congressman calls President Bush 'disgrace'

Posted: January 17, 2007

By Art Moore
© 2007 WorldNetDaily.com

Amid protests and a flurry of last-minute efforts by congressmen, two border patrol agents are scheduled today to begin long prison sentences for their actions in the shooting and wounding of a Mexican drug smuggler who was granted full immunity to testify against them.

In an interview with WND, an angry Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., called President Bush a "disgrace" for refusing to pardon Jose Alonso Compean and Ignacio Ramos, who were sentenced to 12 years and 11 years, respectively, in October. With hopes for a presidential pardon dwindling, the lawmakers had requested that Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez assist in a motion to keep the agents free on bond during the appeals process. But late yesterday, U.S. District Judge Kathleen Cardone in El Paso, Texas, ruled the men must surrender to federal marshals at 2 p.m. Mountain Time today.

"This is the worst betrayal of American defenders I have ever seen," Rohrabacher told WND, referring to the president. "It's shameful this was done by someone who is in the Republican Party. He obviously thinks more about his agreements with Mexico than the lives of American people and backing up his defenders."

I'm against ALL wars, not just Iraq.

I'm for Universal Health Care and removing the health insurance mafia from the equation and reigning in big pharma -- HR 676 is a great start.

I'm for severely cutting the war budget and using the money to make life better for the People of the U.S. and the Peoples of the Earth.

I'm for ending the bullshit, phony "war on terror". I'm for treating other Peoples and Nations as we would wish to be treated.

I'm for curbing the power of corporations and taxing them.

I'm for Public Financing of elections along with taking back OUR AIRWAVES for substantive candidate information dissemination and real debates.

I'm for complete Civil Rights for LGBT persons and all marginalized minorities including "ex-felons".

I'm for the repeal of the misnamed patriot act and all oppressive, police state bullshit legislation.

I'm for complete separation of church and state, that includes banning the "religious concept" and word "marriage" from ALL public laws and discourse -- substitute "domestic partnerships" and make them available to all.

I'm pro-choice. This is a separation of church and State issue! Absolute separation!

I'm for repealing ALL laws that are based on the myths of the desert religions...or any religion.

I'm for ending mandatory minimums, ending the phony "war on drugs", ending the torture chamber philosophy of the criminal-injustice system and replacing it with a humane system of temporary separation from society and rehabilitation for our brothers and sisters who harm others.

I'm unalterably, utterly, completely, absolutely opposed to the death penalty and the egregious life without parole. Both refuse to recognize the human capacity for redemption.

I'm for free public education for all persons from Pre-K through Graduate School.

I'm strongly for renewable energy and an END to the subsidies to the oil/coal/gas/nuclear mafia in favor of subsidies for decentralized solar.

I'm for repealing NAFTA and withdrawing from GATT and the WTO. If any "free trade" agreements are to be made they should include worker rights and environmental protections AT LEAST AS STRONG as "investment" and protections for multi-national corporations.

I'm for repealing the egregious, anti-worker Taft-Hartley Act and support Worker's rights to join together to counter the evil power of the corporations.

I'm for a government crash program on the level of the WPA for Green Jobs...put the millions of unemployed and underemployed to work at creating a sustainable economy and rebuilding manufacturing in the U.S.

I'm for strong subsidies for local economies -- food distribution, small manufacturing and mom and pop businesses to rebuild Main Street U.S.A. I'm for high taxes on multi-national corps. No hiding places for corporations -- no offshore tax havens. You wanna' do business here, you pay stiff taxes here to support the infrastructure We the People supply them.

That's why I'm voting for Kucinich...He's the only candidate who's congruent with my believes and values...

Neocons on a Cruise: What Conservatives Say When They Think We Aren't Listening

The annual cruise organized by the 'National Review,' mouthpiece of right-wing America, is a parallel universe populated by straight-talking, gun-toting, God-fearing Republicans.

From time to time, National Review - the bible of American conservatism - organises a cruise for its readers. I paid $1,200 to join them. The rules I imposed on myself were simple: If any of the conservative cruisers asked who I was, I answered honestly, telling them I was a journalist. Mostly, I just tried to blend in - and find out what American conservatives say when they think the rest of us aren't listening.

...A sweet elderly lady from Los Angeles is sitting on the rocks nearby, telling me dreamily about her son. "Is he your only child?" I ask. "Yes," she says. "Do you have a child back in England?" she asks. No, I say. Her face darkens. "You'd better start," she says. "The Muslims are breeding. Soon, they'll have the whole of Europe."

...I am getting used to these moments - when gentle holiday geniality bleeds into… what? I lie on the beach with Hillary-Ann, a chatty, scatty 35-year-old Californian designer. As she explains the perils of Republican dating, my mind drifts, watching the gentle tide. When I hear her say, " Of course, we need to execute some of these people," I wake up. Who do we need to execute? She runs her fingers through the sand lazily. "A few of these prominent liberals who are trying to demoralise the country," she says. "Just take a couple of these anti-war people off to the gas chamber for treason to show, if you try to bring down America at a time of war, that's what you'll get." She squints at the sun and smiles. " Then things'll change."

...To my left, I find a middle-aged Floridian with a neat beard. To my right are two elderly New Yorkers who look and sound like late-era Dorothy Parkers, minus the alcohol poisoning. They live on Park Avenue, they explain in precise Northern tones. "You must live near the UN building," the Floridian says to one of the New York ladies after the entree is served. Yes, she responds, shaking her head wearily. "They should suicide-bomb that place," he says. They all chuckle gently. How did that happen? How do you go from sweet to suicide-bomb in six seconds?

...They rush through the Rush-list of liberals who hate America, who want her to fail, and I ask them - why are liberals like this? What's their motivation? They stutter to a halt and there is a long, puzzled silence. " It's a good question," one of them, Martha, says finally. I have asked them to peer into the minds of cartoons and they are suddenly, reluctantly confronted with the hollowness of their creation. "There have always been intellectuals who want to tell people how to live," Martha adds, to an almost visible sense of relief. That's it - the intellectuals! They are not like us. Dave changes the subject, to wash away this moment of cognitive dissonance. "The liberals don't believe in the constitution. They don't believe in what the founders wanted - a strong executive," he announces, to nods. A Filipino waiter offers him a top-up of his wine, and he mock-whispers to me, "They all look the same! Can you tell them apart?" I stare out to sea. How long would it take me to drown?

A comfy cruise organized by the National Review. Read a few more pages and you'll read about "Norman Podhoretz and William Buckley - two of the grand old men of the Grand Old Party - begin to feud." Mainstream guys

"Podhoretz --declares that the Iraq war has been "an amazing success." He waves his fist and declaims: "There were WMD, and they were shipped to Syria … This picture of a country in total chaos with no security is false. It has been a triumph. It couldn't have gone better." He wants more wars, and fast. He is "certain" Bush will bomb Iran, and " thank God" for that.

"Aren't you embarrassed by the absence of these weapons?" Buckley snaps at Podhoretz. He has just explained that he supported the war reluctantly, because Dick Cheney convinced him Saddam Hussein had WMD primed to be fired. "No," Podhoretz replies. "As I say, they were shipped to Syria. During Gulf War I, the entire Iraqi air force was hidden in the deserts in Iran."

Now here's Jonah Goldberg back in 2000 on another National Review cruise
Mainstream dumb Jonah

.....Yesterday afternoon I was invited to attend the National Review Caribbean Cruise.
Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah,Blah

But then he asks a physics question.
Ok I guess this is why Neocons can't count, and have trouble with the laws of the universe. And did someone mention reality? Maybe repubs spend too much time thinking about things beyond their understanding

http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=ODA4MmVmN2NhMTRhY2ZmYzAxZTc5MGMzM2ExYjdmYWU=

Jonah Goldberg

....Speaking of physics. If there are any really smart physics types out there, could someone answer the following question. Imagine you have a rod — or some other object that isn't the name of one of Smither's kids — and it is perfectly rigid. Imagine it extends from here to Alderan (assuming it wasn't blown up by the Death Star). Now, my understanding of physics is that nothing can go faster than the speed of light. But if I have this perfectly rigid rod (no doubt the subtitle to more than one gay porn movie), and I press down on one end, shouldn't the other end of this (inanimate steel) rod move instantaneously? After all, if it is perfectly rigid it should allow force to flow from one end to the other perfectly. And if that is the case, isn't the force travelling faster than the speed of light? This question has bothered me for years. But the true test for you pocket-protector readers is not to give me an accurate answer, but to give me an answer I can both understand and that won't tire out my lips while I read it.)

Moving lips while reading is another Neocon frailty. Is it any wonder they screw up royally when not on comfy Caribbean Cruises?

Tah Dah....

Rusho the bimbo, head of the ass-pimple brigade.

CALLER: Hey, Rush. It's great to talk to you. I talked to you once before. I've been listening to you for a couple of years now, and I think I'm getting brighter, but there's a lot to be learned. I know I'm no expert in foreign affairs, but what really confuses me about the liberals is the hypocrisy when they talk about how we have no reason to be in Iraq and helping those people, but yet everybody wants us to go to Darfur. I mean, aren't we going to end up in a quagmire there? I mean, isn't it -- I don't understand. Can you enlighten me on this?

LIMBAUGH: Yeah. This is -- you're not going to believe this, but it's very simple. And the sooner you believe it, and the sooner you let this truth permeate the boundaries you have that tell you this is just simply not possible, the better you will understand Democrats in everything. You are right. They want to get us out of Iraq, but they can't wait to get us into Darfur.

CALLER: Right.

LIMBAUGH: There are two reasons. What color is the skin of the people in Darfur?

CALLER: Uh, yeah.

LIMBAUGH: It's black. And who do the Democrats really need to keep voting for them? If they lose a significant percentage of this voting bloc, they're in trouble.

CALLER: Yes. Yes. The black population.

LIMBAUGH: Right. So you go into Darfur and you go into South Africa, you get rid of the white government there. You put sanctions on them. You stand behind Nelson Mandela -- who was bankrolled by communists for a time, had the support of certain communist leaders. You go to Ethiopia. You do the same thing.

CALLER: It's just -- I can't believe it's really that simple.

Yeah simple minded right wing bullshit.
Most of right wing talk radio mainstream lunatics, O'reily, Rush, Savage are much crazier than the Kucinich supporter you disdainfully used as an example of "offness" of most liberals.

Well compared to the talking heads loonies I mentioned you should retire silly posts as yours to lala land.

Am I crazy, or did Cheney just try to nuke Iran?
Rove and Gonzo both gone; Bush isolated and exposed (not to mention completely over his head with no one, now, to protect him). Bush sent out of the country, to APEC conference in Australia, which he thinks is the OPEC conference in Austria. Cheney running the country from his bunker. Six (!) nuclear armed cruise missiles somehow appear on the wing pilons of a B-52, which then flies them from Minot, ND to Barksdale AFB in Louisiana, which, we are told, is a major AF staging base for flights to and from the Middle East. Said nukes seem clearly to have been placed on the B-52 in flagrant violation of multiple layers of strict security regulation and protocol, for which the AF has no, repeat, no explanation. So, did Cheney and the NSA (or some other, even more shadowy para-governmental organization) temporarily sieze control of a portion of America's nuclear arsenal, off the books and in flagrant violation of all established protocol (and the law, as if that mattered to these maniacs), to use against a nation with which we are not at war? Please, tell me it didn't happen that way. Tell me I'm crazy.

~from the link above~
I started a thread on this yesterday and, for some reason, it rapidly descended to an argument on the validity of "reversed speech," which is what one blogger claims has revealed to him the true nature of everything from 9/11 to bird flu to the missing nukes. So that thread didn't work out too well.

I'm reposting my OP here in hopes that people like Rick Myers, Hootinholler, Seemslikeadream, nadinbrzezinski, MrScorpio, Wiley50 and others who have AF experience and/or have been tracking various aspects of this story can contribute to my lack of understanding on one key point, which is:

If you wanted to move nukes from point A to point B, and you were someone with the authority to order such a move, why would you specify that the missiles be mounted on the wing pylons rather than shipped in the approved, conventional way? After all, you still end up with the nukes; you just don't alert the entire Air Force and, in turn, everyone from mass media (coverage one day only) to people like us. So why take the risk?

So why weren't they transported in the approved method? Warheads shipped separately in cases specially designed to contain radioactive emissions, missiles secured in the cargo hold of a transport plane like a C-130, all the proper paperwork in order, nothing weird -- just a normal transfer of nuclear-tipped weapons.

If, say, Cheney had wanted to steal five to launch against Iranian targets and keep one for use in a false flag op, he's certainly got the juice to make those things happen. Also, according to seemslikeadream's posts on an older thread, there is a growing contingent within the military, and the AF in particular, of wingnut dominionist extremists with visions of bringing on The Rapture or End Times or some other apocalyptic scenario.

Cheney, through intermediaries, could have tapped into those resources once the nukes were on the ground at Barksdale in Louisiana. At least Barksdale is recognized as a primary staging point for B-52s going to the Middle East, so movement of nukes would be less suspicious there, and far less noticeable than the crazy breaches of protocol required to get them there in the manner apparently used.

Does anyone have a theory on this? Why the surreptitious actions that were bound to start red lights flashing all over the AF nuclear weapons tracking system? Why not just move them according to protocol and, if that's the plan, steal them later?

That's why I'm voting for Kucinich...He's the only candidate who's congruent with my believes and values...

http://www.dennis4president.com/go/issues /

If you are against all wars, please remember:
Human ideals require the force of political and military institutions to guarantee their relevance… the only thing holding Ahmadinejad, for example, in check is American military power (which, in turn, is deployed only by our civil authorities).</FONT>

I think this person has a lack of understanding the difference between a car accident and an attack invoking terrorism .............

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x2019442

The World Trade Center was hit on purpose by two planes, 3000 people died. TIME TO MOVE ON.

I won't even address the phony "Terrorism Issue," because there is none. There have been Three (count 'em: three) acts of terrorism on US territory in the last 50 years or so: Oklahoma City, WTC I and WTC II. We never say anything about OK and WTC I and never even put them on a "Terra" radar. So that angle is mostly moot.

3K people, plus the first responders who'll die from the aftermath. A Tragedy? Well, yes, of a sort and on a scale.

Over 3K soldiers have died in Iraq, plus HUNDREDS of thousands of Iraqis.
Tens of thousands died from the flu and its complications, and have been doing so ongoing for YEARS.
Tens of thousands died from traffic accidents. EVERY YEAR.
Thousands died from gun issues, and so on, in this country alone.
God knows how many died in NOLA.

I have a tip for this person............pay for your daughter to have a Doctors visit.............no matter what. If it is so important, make it happen.

From the thread:
My daughter told me today what she would like for Christmas. She asked for a routine doctors visit.
I had to excuse myself so I wouldn't cry in front of her.

My daughter works really hard at a crappy little retail job in the mall while she goes to college here and there in the evenings and online. She's a good kid who's held a steady job since she was 15 years old and is trying very hard to improve her prospects. Why the HELL, in this country, does she have to go begging for a simple, routine office exam? Worse yet, I get holes in my stomach thinking about what would happen if she was in an accident or got sick with no insurance.

I don't CARE anymore which Democrat we get in the Whitehouse as long as we GET ONE IN.

This isn't right and it has to stop.

The county may have a plan for a sliding scale, or try a university teaching hospital-they get much of their funding from governments, or tell her to call some doctors and tell them she is paying cash and to lower the price for her..

To those of you falsely accused and imprisoned, we will fight for the truth and set you free.

To those of you who are being tortured, we will find the means to end your pain.

To those of you who are being wounded in combat, we will ensure that you are cared for until you are healed.

To those of you who are away from home, we will bring you back to where you belong.

To those of you who are burying sons and daughters, parents, loved ones and friends, we will end this war.

To those of you who are hungry, we will feed you.

To those of you who are homeless, we will shelter you.

To those of you who are friendless and without hope, we will not abandon you in your moment of despair.

It may not appear this way to the rest of the world right now, but most of us are basically good, decent people. We don’t sanction torture, we don’t believe that you are any lesser a child of God if you call Him by a different name. We want to take care of the earth and each other. We want the same things you want – for yourselves, your children, your communities, your countries. We want peace.

We good Americans, the ones who still remember what our country stood for once upon a time, will undo the damage that has been done, will bring a sense of order and justice back to our government, and will again act responsibly and with dignity towards our fellow citizens, as well as our global neighbors.

We will do these things not only because we should, but because we must. We will do them because it is necessary not only for the sake of your well-being, but for the sake of our own humanity.

Let's face it, repubs are sexually turned on by torture.
Edited on Mon Dec-31-07 08:53 AM by Philosoraptor
THAT is why they want to bring torture into the mainstream, out of the shadows and secret cells, into our national collective psyche, they get turned on by the very idea of torturing our perceived enemies.

You can see it in their eyes when they discuss the 'enemy' at Gitmo, they almost drool at the idea of torturing POW's to death, but they hate to hide it anymore, they want us ALL to join in with them and make it acceptable as football, to torture people is the ultimate sexual thrill for them, let's just admit it.

It takes a special kind of a person to be able to extract sexual pleasure from torturing a helpless victim, a special kind of person who wears a badge, or medal, or carries a government I.D., a person who is lucky enough to be paid and respected to torture a person for sexual thrills!

And now we have the mental image of president bush jerking off to copies of the CIA torture tapes, while other copies are destroyed, to prevent the public from ever seeing it, and the faith based voters who might be put off by the sight of a person being tortured to death. bush gets a sexual charge out of watching Saddam hang, and prisoners being tortured to death, he watched the tapes for hours upon hours in the dark, with his friend Jack Daniels, you just know he did.

They are not torturing prisoners to death because they are a danger to America, they are torturing people because it gets them so horny they can't stand it. THEY ENJOY IT. They live for it. Torture makes sadists HOT. Its a sex thing, a sick, sick sex thing that only republicans can understand.

Go ahead, tell me I'm wrong about this.

"It would be the first time in my life I would vote Republican for president," said Mrs. Nour-Hinkle, 35. "I think Obama is an empty shirt, the same as George W. Bush but only a Democrat."

John Overton, who shouted pro-Clinton slogans outside the hotel, said he would leave the party if Obama receives the Democratic nomination for president.

"I can't stand for the Democratic Party if they don't stand for voters' rights," said Mr. Overton, who traveled from his home in Chapel Hill, N.C., to attend the rally. The party "would no longer exist to me as a party."

Obama leaving his church will be a huge liability as far as I'm concerned. Not that he had much of a chance of winning the White House to begin with, but this kind of move is NOT going to convert non-believers, and will only weaken his core support (if that's even possible).

I mentioned in a post in another thread a month or so ago regarding Rev. White, and now with Rev. Phleeger, and be it Trinity Church, or any of the other churches or other groups that might support any candidate: The candidate may argee inside with these pastors and parishioners, or not, it isn't the key. The key is that these supporters are voting for him with the expection that their concerns and view will be taken up by this candidate by voting for for them. The expectations are pretty big obviously from the people we've seen from the videos, yet don't neccessarily all black voters. We do know that, traditionally, the democratic candidate usually receives about 88% to 96% of the black vote, regardless of the race of the Democratic Candidate. There were also a lot of dissapointed people in the Gay/Lesbian community when Bill Clinton was elected, but was not able to deliver the changes they had been hoping he would make, and had appearently promised (candidates, all parties, make a lot of promises, and like even more promises are perceived than actually offered or are realisitically deliverable.)

So regardless of what the candidate says, the bigger issue that one will see, is what are the candidates perceived supporters expecting/crying for/demanding, and how do the voters feel about how the candidate will attempt/try/influence the delivery of their desires.

How many people who generally oppose Conservative/Republican candidates are always complaining/concerned over the issue of very wealthy being catered to, when of course, the number of very wealthy voters is not that large, or perhaps the concerns of what is called the Religious Right, when obviously religious people have varying views, and support both parties, even specific faith groups are often split.

The primaries will determine the candidates, but the candidates, the issues, and issues with the candidates perceived supporters will likely always be a serious factor in the final poll.

Bet $177 on the Democrat to win $100

Bet $100 on the Republican to win $138

I suggest you bet everything you can spare on McCain ASAP. You know - before it becomes apparent that McCain will win in a "landslide".

Or maybe go to England where William Hill has Barack at 4/6, McCain at 5/4, or Hillary at a juicy 14/1.

No answer about the war in Iraq? Oh, we have an answer, and they don't like it very much....that's why you're not hearing ANYTHING about Iraq in the news....'cause the news is that the "civil war" that was supposed to be tearing Iraq apart is non-existent, and last month marked the lowest casualty mark for US troops (24) in I don't know how long....

As for the economy, that can be spun any which way you'd like, depending on which side of the fence you happen to the standing....

Obama can't win anyway, tape or no tape. If the tape does exist, then maybe even the left might start admitting he has no shot....

Interesting reading from one of Hcap's favorite old sources - Larry Johnson, renowned ex CIA agent, buddy of Valerie Plame, and supporter of Hillary:

http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/06/02/michelle-obama-and-louis-farrakhan-take-on-whitey/#more-2847

He says one of the former Rep candidates obtained a tape from Trinity Church with Michelle Obama on stage with Louis Farakahn. When Michelle speaks she talks about "whitey" and all of his crimes. Larry Johnson says the Reps are holding it until October to release when it will devastate Obama. If Hillary had the tape, her people would have released it. Something like that would end his candidacy overnight. We'll see if the story is true or not, we know how unreliable Hcap's sources have proven to be, but the speculation is fun, and reading all those pissed off Hillary supporters comments is entertaining.

I checked both sites and niether one had a limit posted. Of course, there are limits. For instance, WSEX won't take more than $20,000 on a winning side in an NFL game or more than $2.500 on a baseball game. But, generally speaking, money talks. The lines are adjusted periodically based on the amount of money coming in on each side.

the only thing that worries me is the Veep choice.

If he put Clinton on the ticket(and she took it) and she keeps her old timer vote along with most of the white ladies and even half of her po folks vote then there is no way Mccain can numerically overcome all that.

A first lady VEEP actually elected is a first "something", i think she would keep most of her voters for this.

people say nobody votes for VEEP, well in this case , maybe yes maybe no?

I don't think they would turn against Clinton.

Hcap - do you have any thoughts on what Larry Johnson has been posting? He used to be a credible source for you. Just curious.

Johnson's site is a hoot - lots of bitter, angry Hillary folks. From the sounds of it, they won't be voting Obama come the fall. But, according to the latest entries there, Obama will be sunk tomorrow and Hillary will end up getting the nod. That is based on what Bob Beckel said today about the "other shoe" - presumably Michelle's whitey video, coming out tomorrow. Is this like when these guys touted the Rove perp walk? You know these guys a lot better than I do Hcap, do they have any credibility or is Johnson just a nut case?

I never went by a poll, hcap - I always formed my own opinions about Bush.
And for all his warts, he did enough of the right things to be respected for them. I prefer to judge the acts he does, not the man himself.

McCan't - I don't support him. I don't like him. I dont trust him. He is too much of a lib and a "co-operator" to suit me. My gut says let the dems have it - Obama will ensure 8-16 years of republican control. But my dilema is he will do far too much damage to recover from.

Hillary is a bacteria. We can get over her.
Obama is a virus. Hard to recover, no vaccines.
McCain is a cancer. he will hurt us from within.

Obamas' speech vs McCains' speech
Reviews compiled by Daily Kos .....

Rolling Stone
Worst. Speech. Ever.

Even from Fox:

MORT KONDRACKE: Well, John McCain had better start working on his speechmaking and learn how to use a teleprompter. I mean, the gap, the rhetorical gap between this speech and...Oratorical gap between this speech and John McCain’s was vast. John McCain sounded old. This sounded fresh and new and exciting and visionary. And he was enlisting the country to join him in a great cause. This is our moment, all of that.

National Review Online

McCain's Speech [Amy Holmes]

McCain's speech was creaky, ungracious, and unnecessary. I never understand why politicians don't take the opportunity, when so easily presented, to simply be gracious and hold their fire. Watching McCain, I couldn't help but think of the astonishing contrast Barack's triumphant speech to a massive and adoring crowd will be. It was not a comparison McCain should have invited.

It would have been more statesmanlike ‹ precisely the profile McCain is attempting to craft ‹ to acknowledge this historic moment in American politics. A major party is on the cusp of selecting an African American to be their nominee for President of the United States. It's a tribute to America that we've come this far. It would have been magnanimous to leave it at that, and wait until tomorrow to declare with enthusiasm and relish, "It's on!"

NRO [Lisa Schiffren]

Bill Kristol was totally explicit about it: "If the election is about speeches, Obama wins. If it's about a record of service, McCain wins." (paraphrase) It will be interesting, and painful to watch voters pick their way through that — assuming that McCain doesn't become a more compelling speaker before the next round.

Thoughts About Obama's Speech

03 Jun 2008 10:20 pm

What a different emotional register from John McCain's; Obama seems on the verge of tears; the enormous crowd in the Xcel center seems ready to lift Obama on its shoulders; the much smaller audience for McCain's speech interrupted his remarks with stilted cheers. (Note: there was a large overflow crowd for McCain's speech, and he repeated his remarks for them later in the evening.)

National Post (CA)

McCain's description of Obama an foolishly naive on foreign policy will be a theme repeated over and over in the upcoming weeks, as will his portrayal of the Illinois senator as a big government liberal who thinks he knows more than ordinary Americans.

But some advice for McCain. Find a new image consultant. The Arizona senator kicked off the general election campaign standing alone in front of a green backdrop, barely drawing applause from a crowd that one can only presume was very small and half asleep.

Obama, by contrast, did what Obama does best. There were 20,000 people out to hear him speak, at the same St. Paul, Minn. convention center where Republicans will hold the national convention this September.

He broke new ground and offered no new promises. But the place had energy. For all his problems - and heaven knows, Obama's got plenty - his campaign on this night seemed like the only one with the heartbeat.

Interesting.

Not.

The only opinions I care about are my own.
I don't buy them for 50 cents outside of diners.

if it's a speech contest............McCain is in serious trouble...........

But if you are somebody who is going to buy some of this shit

"The journey will be difficult. The road will be long. I face this challenge with profound humility, and knowledge of my own limitations. But I also face it with limitless faith in the capacity of the American people. Because if we are willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth. This was the moment — this was the time — when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals. Thank you, God bless you, and may God bless the United States of America."

He is going to raise the oceans and heal the planet????

He is going to give good jobs to the homeless?

He is going to end the war and secure the nation?

I can't wait to cut his ass to ribbons after he has been President about two years............The press will eventually turn on him..........he will become Jimmy Carter without the sweater..................I notice he said "god bless america" and not God Damn America? What about the far left who says there is no god? What about the far left who wants no "god " in government? This is gonna be fun to watch..........no matter what happens

I don't understand your fascination with this fringe group while we have these buttons on sale at the Texas GOP state convention this weekend.

Obama makes jokes about the Asians, so he is endorsing racism.
Can dish it out but can't take it, huh?

Oh, yeah, Barry Hussein is a spoiled little punk who can't take any criticism.
And rather on the dull side, dontcha think?

You are implying that those buttons were sanctioned by the Rep Party. If they existed, probably some street venders trying to make a buck... I would wager we will see far worse, as to both sides, before this blood bath is over.

The buttons were indeed sold by vendors; other vendors there sold anti-McCain buttons.

I can't believe it. Hcap would never post something that wasn't true (that is unless of course it suited his needs/fantasies, then any untruth is welcome).

Now, now, control yourselves girls. You all are like a bunch of blue haired female septuagenarians, shocked by the rough language of their grandchildren.

I guess you all are about to faint, clutching your pearls in utter horror.
"Why, I never!!!" The nerve!"

Listen up ladies, my statement to Ralph was..
I don't understand your fascination with this fringe group while we have these buttons on sale at the Texas GOP state convention this weekend.
The posters on the Dem Underground are not condoned by the Democratic party. The DU is not the Democratic party. The posters are certainly not. Meanwhile my point was the the Texas GOP state convention, which is an official ( organ  ) of the GOP, allowed this to occur at their official convention.

OK, you ladies can keel over know.

So the Texas GOP is actually stupid across the board?
Well that certainly justifies allowing racist vendors.
Thankyou LTJ. But keep their stupidity in mind come November.

Actually none of this is worth much. But if it isn't worth much, the fringe posters on the DU are certainly worth far far less. My point.

But hey Ralph gets a kick from their rantings. I just don't get the funny.
The lunatic right, now they are funny.

That way we can have an endless supply of "lawyer jokes"
