Very interesting perspective on handicapping trainers. Ratings based on how trainers perform relative to their odds over the past two weeks.
E.G. favorite wins, the trainers may get 3 points. Favorite places, may get 1 or 2 points. Favorite out of the money, will get -10 points.
They maintain trainers over there go through cycles in 2 week or 3 week periods and try to capture it with a rating.
Of course, British racing is far different than theirs -- they don't race every day, etc., but these ideas are provocative.

Interesting post... although I've never tried to quantify/prove it, I've always believed that the trainers record over the past 30 days was one of the most effectiveness trainer stats to follow.

Would you happen to be the impressive man of science that sometimes calls himself Pittsburgh Phil?
