There's a lot of talk about Win Pct and ROI on this board but who can boast a method with a 100% hit rate?

In all my data, there's only been one sure thing: a horse with a 1/5 morning line. 7 for 7 over the last two years!

5/24/2003 - Hollywook Park, Race 8: Azeri. Paid $2.40
6/15/2003 - Stampede, Race 8: Raylene. Paid $2.50
6/21/2003 - Hollywood Park, Race 8: Azeri. Paid $2.60
8/19/2003 - Philadelphia, Race 8: Toccet. Paid $2.20
8/21/2004 - Finger Lakes, Race 6: Top Shoter. Paid $2.30
9/17/2004 - Belmont, Race 3: Galloping Grocer. Paid $2.10
10/3/2004 - Santa Anita, Race 7: Roman Ruler. Paid $2.10

Today (1/16/2005) at Santa Anita is the coupled entry for Revealed/Sweet Caroline in the Santa Ysabel Stakes with a 1/5 morning line.

Bet the house!! *laugh*

The running of the race raises an interesting question.

If one half of an entry wins after fouling the other half of the entry and that fouled entry finishes last where does the "winning" half of the entry finish?

Still perfect.

Sweet Catomine won by two lengths but check out the betting pools:

Win pool: $143,393. Sweet Catomine: $101,861
Place pool: $502,192. Sweet Catomine: $478,383.

No show pool so looks like the bridgejumpers hit the place pool.

That happened to Russell Baze once, and he was so het up he was trying to object when someone told him to cool it. The owner and trainer did not want to lose the first prize, of course.

Results for 2001-2002 from a database of about 50,000 races each year (most major and mid-range U.S. tracks). M/L of 1-5

2001
DMR Officer 2.20
RKM Hap 2.60
SA Kona Gold 2.60
SA Tiznow 0.00
2002
DEL Xtra Heat 2.40
DMR Azeri 2.20
LRL Xtra Heat 2.10
SUF Jill's Layup 2.20

Not bad. 7 out of 8 winners, Tiznow being the only loser in the series. However, betting all eight of these netted a 10 cent loss.

"However, betting all eight of these netted a 10 cent loss."

By my addition, the total payoffs from the seven winners at the prices given come to $16.30, which amounts to a 30-cent profit, or a +1.875% positive return on all eight starters.

Back in the early 1960's a turf writer for the LA Times name of Bob Hebert wrote a book, in which he mapped out a betting system.
The play was on 2 and 3 year old colts or geldings that were going off at less than even money.....the bet was to place.
I think it was just alw. and stakes races, but I can't remember.
Anyway, the system worked for 8 years in a row, then had a losing season, when a big favorite down at Del Mar in a two year old stake....bolted and ran out of the money.

This should come as no surprise but Lost in the Fog is a 1/5 morning line favorite in today's Bay Shore Stakes at Aqueduct.

Bet the house!
