I need some help.

My PC has Norton Antivirus and a router installed, the operating system is windows 98 2nd edition.

I recieved an email during the night, Norton Antivirus was able to fix one of the infections but was unable to repair W32Netsky.Z@mmle... (repair failed)

It appears like the virus is being contained for now but I can't recieve or send emails.

1st guy to help me with this will recieve a $10+ winner within 48 hrs hehe

That shouldn't stop you from hitting the mailbox. Unless you havent' deleted the offending email........

fill us in on what happens when you try to receive mail?

The 'repair failed' on the W32.Netsky file is nothing to worry about because a virus/worm file can't be 'repaired.' It should be deleted/quarantined, though.

Have you taken any actions at all since the detection of the virus?

Ralph -- I can't recieve any email. Spoke with my computer guy and he had me run "stinger" but after running it, it doesn't indicate that the virus was detected and removed.

RXB / Ralph --- should I click on the Quarantine box?

I probably wasn't real clear in the last post.

Should I click on the Quarantine box on the Norton Antivirus (rRpair Wizard)?

keilan,

I don't use Norton AV but i would have thought that it would automatically quarantined the virus. If you have a choice, have Norton remove rather than quarantine but perhaps you must quarantine first.

If Norton doesn't remove it, try an online virus scan -- http://housecall.trendmicro.com

Or, if you are savvy enough with computers you could remove it manually:

Good luck.

Keilan, I'm assuming that when you wrote Netsky.Z@mmle... you actually meant Z@mm!enc which just indicates that Norton detected the virus in that e-mail. NAV should've deleted the actual worm from the e-mail.

Hey guys I clicked on Quarantine --- the status on Norton Antivirus came back 1 repaired and 1 quarantined. I assuming everything is back to normal.

Much appreciated guys :)

I'm going to re-boot my PC and see that everything is working

So who gets the winner?

:)

In my case first prize would be a $10 winner.
Second prize would be two $10 winners. (ba-dum-bum!)

R 6 -- #8, the #7 should also run well today.
R 7 -- #6, the #3 could also run well here.
R8 #12 – all that’s needed is a good trip
R9 #8 slight edge over the #13

Not big prices there but hopefully there are a few winners in there

Results

R6 – ran 2nd and 3rd beat by FTS
R7 – 6 wins and the 3 gets photo out of 2nd at big odds
R8 – the 12 wins
R9 – 5 wins at 2-1 and the 13 runs 2nd

Not big prices but…………….
