Does anyone know of any significant bias at Sam Houston ?
For some reason I do fairly well when playing this track and was hoping to get some solid information, if it is available, to help continue some of the positive earnings I have been getting at this track.

Thanks.

TBPhoto,
The surface at Sam Houston is unique in fact that it is 11 inches of Brazos River Sand (actually is dredged from the Brazos River and just a small amount of topsoil, clay or loam is mixed with it to make sure it is uniform) that is 93-94% sand with an even mixture of clay and loam making up the balance. Most surfaces are a 4 inch sandy cushion on top of a 7 inch sub cushion base that is about 87% sand and more clay. The Brazos River Sand surface is a fair surface for the most part that generally favors runners that have a style that puts them within 3-4 lengths of the lead by the quarter pole. I have seen it have a couple of weeks of inside front speed bias and a week of stone closer bias, but that type of bias usually doesn't last more than a day or two - hard to call it a true "bias". A long dry spell will create seems to favor off-pace closers and a hard rain after such a dry spell will favor closers early on the night and then front runners as the night wears on. Very cold weather like this weekend seems to favor early speed, but a speed dual will set up come from behind types if the closers are capable. Not much help I know, but I have been here for 10 years and can say that there has not been a consistent bias for an extended period of time.

Nice course..... too bad the locals don't support their race course

46,

You are a bit of a negative soul, aren't you?

46,
You are a bit of a negative soul, aren't you?

MY friends IN Houston tell me that this beautiful facility is NOT embraced by the locals...that is fact, not positve nor negative.

Are you talking strictly about low attendance numbers? You could probably say the same for almost every track in the country on most "regular" days.

Thanks, that was some great information. I really appreciate the track surface background...Helps me understand the track a lot better.

From the above, I'd say you might want to consider Early Pressers on the rail in dirt sprints and Pressers for dirt routes.
