I heard a great comparison regarding NFL stats and how misleading they can be today..

"Stats are like bikinis, what they show us looks pretty good, but they hide what's really important"

I think the only stat that really is overrated is passing yardage. Losing teams are in passing situations more, and often facing softer defenses late in the game. But defensive stats, rushing stats and passing efficiency are all significant. The one stat they haven't come up with yet but should is a way to quantify all special teams play.

How many games would Minny have won if he only threw for 2500 yards and 20 TDs and an 80 QB rating? Maybe 4 and that might be a stretch.

Hey, you were the one that mentioned passing yards, not me.. I was actually agreeing with your statement
