Well Yankees fans I hope you guys are happy. George broke open his Big piggy bank and pulled out $8.5 million and Javier Vazquez and Brad Halsey
to land the Big Unit . I love this because the Yankees are going 40% over
the luxury tax and at some point Might feel the financial burden and drop out of the bidding for Carlos Beltran . Leaving the Mets as the Only NY team to pursue Carlos Beltran.

They still have no bullpen outside of Gordon and Rivera. That's going to be a problem, Gordon can't pitch every day.

I think they've done enough of the hired assasin project and it hasn't worked out.. A-rod was not exactly a catalyst during the playoffs, nor was Vaquez, Brown, etc, etc...

They have enough tinmen with no heart, they need more players like Jeter and Bernie..

As far as Beltran goes, I think its a mistake to sign him for those huge dollars.

Reminds me of all those ex-Rockies going elsewhere and doing nothing. Everyone looks good hitting in Houston. Like running behind the Denver offensive line. He'll be a good enough player, but a definite underlay in my opinion. The money could be better spent by any team, not just the Yankees.

Tell ya what, if Manya and the Mets are truly serious about winning now and for a while, they would do everything to get Beltran.. Wright and Beltran sure would be a nice young core to have..
