Opening Day at the "Great Race Place"

*Lava Man* 10-1 ML
Fought hard with three other horses for lead along backstretch in last (75K Stk 11/13/04). Tough early fractions for 7.5 Furlongs. Shook off horses as he entered stretch and then was caught by horse with dream trip and lost by 1/2 length. Like the cut back to 7F. The Malibu field came up strong (i.e Rock Hard Ten and Mass Media) but the price should be right on this solid contender.

Comes off a win in debut where he appeared a bit green but still put away the field impressively. Lots of other horses in this field have a leg up in terms of experience, but horses with talent tend to improve substantially second time out. Cozy outside post and like Flores on 2 YO's.
