Once considered a Kentucky Derby possibility, Remember Sheikh, upset winner of the 2000 G3 El Camino Real Derby, will go to the post in Golden Gate's seventh race for a tag of a mere $25,000.

Sidelined after the El Camino, trainer Lonnie Arterburn brought him back six months later and tried him on turf for the first time, going a route in stakes company at Bay Meadows, and he faded badly in the lane, beaten more than 11 lengths.

He was given another long layoff from May 1, 2001 to Mar. 3, 2002, when he was brought back and offered for a tag for the first time, going for $40,000, and again on Mar. 21.

After those two starts for $40,000, the Arteburn trainee goes third off the layoff by dropping to a new low of $25,000 as he makes just his second attempt at routing on turf.

Once again, here is another case of a one-time talented horse being spiraled down lower and lower. The question remains, "How low will they go?"
