I've got an investment opportunity in a filly 2yo by the sire Yes It's True...dam is Artistic One by Copeland.

I can't find too much info on the career of Yes It's True except for the Keeneland Sales brochure. Does anybody have any stats on him and was he a sprinter/router/dirt/grass horse?

Thanks in advance!

Definitely a sprinter, of this I am sure.

To be honest, I'd look for more info on the dam side of the house, all the sires will have decent records.

Here are his major wins at 2:

The Hollywood Juvenile Championship [G3]
6 Furlongs, by 6 lengths

The Sapling Stakes[G3]
6 Furlongs, by 7 1 1/4 lengths

The Kentucky Breeder's Cup Stakes
5 1/2 Furlongs, in 103.61, New Track Record

The WHAS-11 Stakes
5 Furlongs, in 57.66, Equaling Track Record

Here are his major wins at 3:

The Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash [G1]
First Career G1 win, 5th straight stakes win in races under 1 mile

Riva Ridge Stakes [G2]
7 furlongs, as topweight

The Maryland Breeders' Cup Handicap
6 Furlongs, by 4 3/4 lengths, defeating champion sprinter Artax

The LaFayette Stakes [G3]
7 Furlongs, by 5 lengths, as topweight

The Swale Stakes [G3]
7 Furlongs, as topweight

The Jersey Shore Breeder's Cup Stakes [G3]
6 Furlongs, by 7 lengths, as topweight

He also ran 2nd to Belmont Stakes winner Lemon Drop Kid in the Belmont Futurity.

Yes It's True is the HOT young sire in Kentucky. He stood his couple of years at Padua farm in Ocala for $10,000. Since he doing well with his 2 year olds, he has moved to Three Chimneys and his stud fee is now $25,000. His book is reportedly full with over 100 mares.
His fist crop was 70 foals,15 winners with 4 stakes winners incluing B B Best, Proud Accolade,Chandtrue and True Tails. Average earnings per runner is $33550. Auction averages in 2004 for fillies are weanlings$80,444(N=9), yearlings $76,981(N=26) and 2 year olds $81308(N=13)

As for your mare's female side, her 4th dam was Teacher's Art who won the Majorette Stakes and the Alcibiades Stakes along with running2nd in the Arlington-Washington Lassie stakes. The other horses in her immediate family include Beat Inflation who won the Los Angeles Handicap-G2;Houston who won the BayShore-G2,Derby Trial-G3, and King's Bishop-G3; Quadratic who won The Cowdin-G2,Everglades-G3; Smart Angle who won Frizette-G1, Selima-G1, Spinaway-G1, Matron-G1 and Adirondak-G3: Homebuilder who won Fayette-G2, Ben Ali-G3 and Baltimore Breeders Cup-G3,Smarten winner of Ohio Derby-G2, American Derby-G2,Illinois Derby-G3.

Looking at her pedigree, I suspect you would have an early developing sprinter who probably have some residual value as a broodmare.

You may want to get the opinion of some of the pedigree people at pedigreequery.com forum. Pay attention to anything that Bill in Wash, Mubarah, George William Smith, Louis Finochio, Michael, Kal, FOS and LSB. Everybody else tke with a grain of salt. You also go to Bill in Wash website and get his opinion there. He is very gracious to answer all questions. (http://www.dimarpublishing.citymaker.com/page/page/1392916.htm)

One other source to check out the pedigree reports at Brisnet.com if you have an account there.

I'm assuming the filly was foaled while Yes was still in Florida. The Florida Stallion series seems pretty good, with nice purses, and if she turned out good would be eligible. Yes was the leading stallion in Florida, when there. Good luck with your decision.
