NYRA asked for, and received permission, on October 14th to offer superfecta wagering on 3 races a day...but have yet to offer it. OFFER IT ALREADY GUYS!!!

From the NYS Racing and Wagering Board:
12. NYRA REQUEST TO AMEND PLAN OF OPERATION - WAGERING

For entry into the minutes, on October 14, 2004, approval was granted for the request by NYRA to amend its plan of operation to add a second pick-four wager encompassing races two through five on any given NYRA program. This added pick-four wager will be effective Wednesday, October 27, 2004 (Aqueduct opening day).

Also approved is the addition of two superfecta wagers (for a total of three) to be offered to the wagering public on any given NYRA racing program on races with eight or more betting interests that have a purse of less than $500,000. NYRA may also continue to offer superfecta wagers on any stakes races with purses of $500,000 or more in addition to the three approved superfecta wagering pools per program.

Might just be trying to figure out what races are the best fit and working to adjust the condition books accordingly. There wasn't much choice of where to put that 2nd P4, but there's a lot of room for adjustment with supers

I just spoke to Bill Nader about it and he said it has NOT been approved. While they expect it to be approved, they have only requested it so far and are still waiting for the go ahead.

A problem they face is that coupled entries CANNOT be run in races with superfectas. So while they can have the racing office work to have the ninth race be as big a field race as possible, while not allowing coupled entries to run, it gets harder when you disburse one or two more of these situations throughout the card.

All in all, however they hope to have this going soon, but a date isn't possible. I'll let you know if there is anything more concrete in the future.

Little note in the DRF says that they will start 3 supers a day during the Belmont meet.

Does the NYRA have a limit on the number of P3s it offers? It never offers one in the first leg of the final P4, yet it does in the first leg of the opening P4. It also doesn't start rolling P3s from the first race. How many times have you seen 3 great playable races in races 6-8 then a garbage fest in the finale which makes you not want to play the P4?

Haven't been able to find actual rules on this, but have a look at what it says about pick 3s here

Not quite the way they actually do it

They actually do it that way. A pick 3 scratch at Belmont does not give you the favorite. Excellent rule IMO.

Valuist - That's why they created the "all" button for the last race!
Either that or you should completely crush the DD on the 6th & 7th.

You didn't quite read far enough into the section. The part I was referring to was this....

NYRA tracks offer Pick 3 wagering on all races - Rolling Pick 3's - beginning with the first race.

No they don't.

Your first post mentioned "rules". So that's what I interpreted your post to say.

And no, they no longer roll the pick 3's like you've already mentioned. They did it in the beginning though.
