I'm at the hospital waiting while my 11 yo daughter has her appendix removed. I know its not considered too serious, but it sure is scary for her, and probably a little more for me, especially when most here don't speak English. Please say a prayer for her if you can!

Best of luck to your daughter Craig. While working, I worked with numerous medical types from Belgium and they are extremely sharp. She is in good hands.

My Sweetheart.. My Princess, My 6 year Old niece Hannah , Had a run in with Doctors/Hospitals about two weeks back. My Sister assured me that everything woudl be ok... Just the same. I did'nt sleep right until the test came back and I was on edge all day every day. When You love a Kid more than the world itself.. It can rock your insides when they aint right. Hang Tough. Your probably having a Harder time than her! lol.

cj, many years ago, my daughter needed surgery for SEVERE scoliosis. we had no pediatrician & never noticed it ourselves. we got the best surgeon in the bay area AND he took medi-cal ! i guess the point is to find a good doc and trust him. as you said it is not considered MAJOR major surgery. good luck. your nerves will be the biggest problem, i guess.

Surgery is scary for a kid. My daughter hasn't had to have any but I remember going in to get my tonsils out. All I can remember thinking was that somebody would have a knife in my throat. Pretty scary for a 7 YO. Good to hear her surgery went well.

Glad to hear she's doing well. Having my appendix taken out was no fun for me -- and I was over 40. The pain was incredibly intense, although I did enjoy the Demerol drop before the operation.

I send best wishes.
Many of us are lucky we are not living pre- 1900 before the most modern medicine.

CJ, very glad to learn she's out of surgery and all appears to be going well. I had my tonsils and appendix removed when I was pretty young...heck, I don't even remember any of it <g>.. But at your daughter's age, she will. But the good news is that youngsters tend to heal fast. So, I'll be prayin' for her to recover quickly.

Great to hear she made it out of sugery ok.

No perforation or intestinal trouble? If not she should be just fine.

I'm certainly not looking forward to an appendectomy!!

First, thanks for all the kind thoughts. I showed all of these to my daughter.

She is doing great and should be home Friday. They keep people in the hospital longer than in the US as a normal thing.

Thanks again!

Good news CJ! Thanks for sharing. It's refreshing to see such a contrast of human nature between this thread and a few choice others in off topic.

CJ,

Glad to hear all is well. I'm sure she held up better than I would have, I have a morbid fear of surgery.
