Diligent Gambler gets ninth win of 2004

When Diligent Gambler won Friday's sixth race, it was the 3-year-old colt's ninth win from 14 starts this year. That ties him with Kipper's an Angel, Warrior's Dance, and Tender Offer for the most wins by a horse in 2004.

Diligent Gambler, a 3-year-old son of Diligence, has won on all four dirt tracks maintained by the New York Racing Association. Diligent Gambler is owned by Castle Village Farm and trained by Leah Gyarmati. He has been claimed twice this year, but was not taken on Friday.

I saw the race. He's in good form, and has stayed in good form for quite awhile now. You do know that his 2nd place two weeks ago cost me the Pick 4 don't you? Yup.. Paying $975.00 out of the 7 hole... he closed and just missed. I believe One tough Dud was in the race..#2 @ 4-5. He stunk up the joint and I walked away with nothing...

But anyway.. Congratulations Ron. Take care...

You going over to see the Cigar Mile and Remsen Today?

Ron,

Congrats again, that colt sure does like playing in the NY mud :)

If this keeps up, I might have to figure out how to automatically trigger a congratulations message from stable mail and just ship one out every time he runs. :D

Was standing by the paddock as he came across the line to give me a $400 P3 hit and set up the next 2 P3s I subsequently hit. I have much to thank him for. Glad you have him for at least 1 more too.

That is one game horse. Does he have any allowance conditions left?

The allowance pickings get much easier when racing shifts to the inner dirt. Might want to avoid the tag races for a while with this game a horse.

The quality of the allowance races definitely drops when the racing shifts to the inner and the top barns ship their good stock south. That horse should be able to have no problem with a NW1X field and probably not need long to get thru the NW2X.

Got to agree with you Valuist. Just a quick look at pars during the main track Aqu season shows that a 35000 claimer winner there has the speed to be competitive with the NW1X level and a 50000 claimer can win NW2X. On the inner track season, he could very well be strong up to the 2X level and maybe even at the low end open stakes given the right setup. This guy would be deadly in starter allowances in NYRA were ever to card them with any frequency. I expect to see even more optional claimers running this winter than last, as last year was the first for them there, and they would be a great fit for this guy.

I guarantee if they run him back for a tag, the Dutrows, Lakes and Asmussen's of the world will have a claim in for him.
