All,
Has anyone used the Mellon Pacechart? I've noticed two sales on E-Bay; one for $41.00 and one for $76.00.
Thank you,
Maxspa

I think you are referring to Paul Mellos.

Paul Mellon was he rich owner who Mack Miller trained for, I believe.

All,
I received the Mellon Pace Chart in the mail last night in the mail. It is a point system that has the following sections:
Horse Qualifiers
Condition Ratings
Odds Rating
The Pace Performance
Betting Situations
There are Three Steps for assigning points
Step 1 has 8 ratings
Step 2 has 1 rating
Step 3 has 1 rating
Highest Total from Qualified Horses is the Play

Since I'm used to computer programs doing the grunt
work, its hard for me to go back and do paper and pencil
calculations. Probably will be a dust collector.

1. There is nobody named Mellon ..
2. This comes from a well known System's mill .. mostly in
NY. 3. Possible that a few other MAILERS ARE SENDING
the piece.
4 From what I know...it is nothing ... Perhaps somebody will
try it. I would be wary of promises of refunds.

Max, I remember years ago getting a flier from a guy called Struss that claimed he bought the charts from Mellon so he could publish them.

I wish you would not give up on the Mellon charts so easily. Some of that old stuff before Software came out had a lot of merit and deserves a good workout.I know it is hard to go back to paper and pencil. Sometimes the things you don't want to do in handicapping are the things that count.
I just finished a 30 day workout at Aqueduct using a method from 1984 that looks at the closing horses in a unique way. I thought it would be interesting seeing how everyone looks for early speed.I was so surprised at the good prices this method got because it is not speed orientated. How long does it take me?When I first started better than an hour. now twenty to thirty minutes a card.

Give Mellon a try you never know it might be a goldmine.

John,
f it originated from Norris Strauss of the Brooklyn system mill notoriety....forget 'bout it!

I don't understand ? so if it is the guy you mention, why is it no good.

Buying something from Norris M Strauss is like buying a lottery ticket. You have a miniscule chance of getting anything good and a nearly 100% chance of getting taken to the cleaners. It is similar to dealing with Mike Warren of Baltimore.

Figman, I see now. These must be the guys that crank out anything and never return your money. they are called gin mills or something like that....Thanks for the heads-up.

Mellon was an old system seller several years back. Not sure he's still around.
