I recently installed "spybot" on my laptop. I keep getting this "dso exploit 5 entries" when I run it. When I click on it I see" hk users and to the right "registry change". Can anyone help me with this please. I am a computer dummy when it comes to this.

Here's a work around

Re: Dso Exploit
If you have all the windows security updates and patches then you are safe from the dso exploit.

But there is a bug with Spybot that will still find the entry each scan.

What you can do is

1. Open Spybot and select 'advanced' mode.
2. Select 'settings' in the left column.
3. Select 'ignore product' in the left column.
4. Select 'security' tab.
5. Place check mark in box beside DSO Exploit.
6. Close program
7. Open Spybot and run a scan.

Here's a spyware product that says it can actually fix this.

Shanta, I don't use either one of these products so tread carefully.

Good Luck.

The proviso was that you MUST have your Windows updates up-to-date. The security fixes in the Micro$oft updates take care of the dso exploit problem.

or you can just ignore it and close spybot after each running.

It won't hurt anything..............

I have none of the recent updates and will not download them. Will Spybot still work and let me just turn it off afterwards?
Last time I downloaded a MS update, I lost Windows Media player, never got it back, and other assorted problems that ultimately forced my to buy a new computer. I don't want anything to do with updates, which I thinkg are a marketing strategy to sell new computers after Gates f's up your existing one!

I know. I'm not paranoid either ;)

Spybot will work, just not in regards to the 'dso exploit' problem. You can do a google to see what effect that may have.

You really should update ... my .02
