Picks for Aqueduct Saturday:
R1 #1 Rises the Phoenix-Switches to dirt and gets a positive jock switch. Ran two decent races on the turf and boxcar odds. Added distance should help.
R2 #6 Above the Devil-Responded nicely to the barn change via the claim. Barn does well with runners stepping up in class, added distance should help.
R3 #6 London-Barn does very well with the turf/dirt move. Comes out of a key race where several have returned to win. Had run well on the dirt before the turf switch.
R4 #7 Rationalexuberance-Connections combo says this horse is a factor here. Sire does OK with FTS. Can’t see this one going off at 5/1.
R5 #7 Awesomeness-Played this one first off the layoff and he failed to beat a single runner. He returned quickly and battled on the lead before fading last time. Has a decent drill since then, and now is the time for a good effort. Good odds expected here.
R6 #6 Daddy Joe-Blinkers may do the trick for this runner. Ran well off the pace in his debut, and he didn’t run too badly battling for the lead last time. Two decent drills since.
R7 #4 Alocadito-This runner looks very tough in this spot. If he doesn’t bounce off his last effort he should dominate this field at short odds.
R8 #2 Literacy-Her first try at this distance was on a soft surface at KEE, and she ran decent. Gets a firmer surface today and Prado takes the call.
R9 #6 Nevermore-Had no chance vs Sightseek last time, especially with the trip she had. Ran well in G1 race the time before that, and should be a late factor in what looks like a heavily pressured race.
R10 #8 Melodeeman-Like this probable big longshot here. He has had excuses in his last few races, and now he returns to the track where he ran his best races.
