I think you are spot on, President Donald J. Trump has made this Republican party his own. It is solidified and picking up democrat and independent voters every day. People living inside these hell zones like Portland and others are looking for an end to this mess and know it will not come from local leaders or Joseph Robinette Biden Jr..

And there's a lot of collateral damage besides what I've mentioned.

I thought having the draft during the Vietnam war was the worse crime the U.S. gov't would inflict on its citizens, but these prolonged lockdowns may be worse.
