At least to me...

My wife and I went to our polling place this morning, a local elementary school. While we are waiting in line, my wife goes out to the car to drop her purse and encounters a friend.

Understand that this friend has always claimed to be very politically savvy and highly critical of anyone who does not keep up with politics on both the national and local level.

Anyway, the woman, who is dropping off her child at school asks my wife what she is doing here (since we have no elementary school children). My wife says, "We're voting. This is our polling place just like yours."

The woman says, "Oh, that's today?"

(Okay, maybe you had to be there, but we were just incredulous.)

A Republican friend of mine told his Democratic son, "The election is Wednesday for Democrtic voters...."

I hope that woman was not for your candidate, Dave?
Nevada is a close race.

SCF,

How would one know?

She is certainly as smart as those guys voting from their cemetery plots. <G>

I'm happy I even had the chance to vote. I filled out a new registration form a couple months ago because I had moved. I got a photocopy back of what was left of it after the deadline for registration. Looks like the postal machine ate it for lunch. Luckily, my last name and address were still on the remaining tatters, so there was enough there for me to be in the book. Had to fill out an affidavit ballot, which the workers couldn't find and didn't really understand, so I might get thrown out anyway, but I'm still glad I went to check my eligibility this morning even though I had to be there for quite a while.

SCF,

No, not that I am aware of. However, as I mentioned in another thread there have been cases of registration takes discarding registrants from the "other" party.

Well, Dave, I sure hope they have a square election in Nevada, because it would certainly be bad p. r. to have it otherwise.
Nevada depends on tourist trade......gambling to be exact.
Integrity is a must.

SCF,

LOL - Integrity and casinos... Two words that just naturally go together, right?

Oh, but don't get me started. <G>

As for the poilitcal abuses, there seem to have been several instances of this and similar around the country. I sure hope some people go to prison over them. We need to take it seriously.

Dave Schwartz,

Amazing apathy in a swing state. But many folks voice opinions then fail to vote in traditional stronghold states.

Proposition 777: A constitutional amendment to authorize exemption from state income tax for individuals who will be issued certificates of voting participation when they submit a valid ballot to the polling officials for the current election. :)
