1980.

Long time ago, or so it seems. Ended up being a year to remember for a lot of reasons. For my birthday I got a sears stereo with a cassette player. My uncle gave me a Jimi Hendrix album. My grandfather gave me a pair of irrigation boots. I was 14, and could start working on the family farm. I was paid $50.00 in cash every month, and had $50.00 put into a savings account. When I got my farm permit, I was given use of a 1970 Chevy farm truck. Nothing fancy, beat up. Had a tool box in the bed, and the first thing I did was put a gun rack in the back window. Had to be careful in it, if you hit a bump to hard the lights would stop working, or half the dash on the passenger side would fall to the floor. Still, thought it was the best truck in the world. We had 3 quarters of farm ground that were right next to each other. I went there every morning and met my uncle. Then when done would either go to baseball practice or school. Met a girl named Lisa that year, she lived in a apartment above a tire shop with her mom. Got my first kiss from her. She also introduced me to her favorite rock band. They were coming out with a new album. She had tried to buy one but the store said they were already sold out. The guy that lived three houses away from me owned the local record / head shop. I went to his house and told him that I wanted one of those albums. He smiled and said he would reserve a copy for me. The day the album was available, I took her down to the store and got one for her. That was 40 years ago today. May be you have heard of it.

You went down the highway to hell at a young age Jay, Happy Birthday. AC/DC was one of the first concerts I saw and they blew the doors off the main attraction Aerosmith on that night.
