Ralph.
A buddy of mine has a Toshiba Sattelite laptop. He messed something up and is now getting this message:" ntldr is missing press ctrl, alt del to restart". Problem is when he does this the laptop starts to restart but winds up back on that original screen with the same message. He can't get anything to work. Any idea what happened or how to fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanx ,
Richie

this is either really easy to fix or really bad..........feast or famine...nothing in the middle.........see this link

http://support.microsoft.com/search/default.aspx?catalog=LCID%3D1033&query=ntldr+missing

it means it can't find the boot files. Make sure he is booting from his hard drive (no floppy in the drive, no cd's in the cd drive etc)

if you can't fix it from the info above .......call toshiba.......I hope he has his stuff backed up...........

Ralph,
Thanx so much for the help. It turns out he has to reinstall the operating system. He lost his stuff but it is nothing he is losing sleep over. He uses it mainly to run his handicapping software.
He will just reinstall it.
I really appreciate the quick reply. I hope you and yours are all doing great.
Richie:)
