he 20-cent Rainbow 6 at Gulfstream Park was solved Monday when a bettor cashed for a $1,208,573.86 jackpot payoff with a $51.60 ticket played at Xpressbet.

The winning ticket was 5/1-8/4,5/1,9/1-8/6.

Aye Aye Sir ($7) kicked off the Rainbow 6 in Race 6 and was followed to the winner’s circle by Quenane ($11.60), Scarto ($153.20), Monforte ($5), Home Base ($11.60) and Aquaphobia ($9.20).

Don't we assume this was part of a much larger play?

Without add'l info, why would we assume? Structure is plausible and I can see the huge price horse (via redboarding ). Cheap speed, but speed nevertheless.

in the second leg they had the first 8 inside posts and in the 5th leg they wheeled all 8 runners.

1/8/2/2/8/1 runners

Makes it even more likely it was some sort of back up ticket.

Don't we assume this was part of a much larger play?Probably. $51 is an odd number to stop at...LMAO

Plus, $51 is way above the pleb limit...

Whether part of a bigger play or not, this is a huge score on a day where there was only 1 longshot (the 5 other winners were under 5-1). Sort of dispels the theory that the rainbow six is a sucker bet. 1 favorite 1 3rd favorite, 3 2nd favorites and 1 longshot and they are the lone ticket with six winners. Pretty shocking when you consider over 2 million combos were bet($427,000 pool).

A 20 cent pick 3 parlay calculates in the neighborhood of $82,000 so on a $427,000 pool you would suspect about 5 tickets to have hit, not just 1.

How in the world does a $153 horse leading to there being one winner mean this isn't a sucker bet? I can sit in the casino today and watch people hit jackpots on the slot machines too. Does that make slots a good play?

Because someone wins the Power Ball Lotto would that also disprove the theory that the Lotto is a sucker bet?

I really need to explain this? Anybody can catch one longshot, whether they due so by chance (as it appears the winner did) or they do so with hitting the all button in the right race or structuring their play to catch the longshots on the instances they hit. The fact that someone was able to claim the single ticket reward (the value in the bet) on a pick six in which 4 of the winners were among the top two favorites and 5 of the winners were among the top 3 favorites on a 20 cent pick six(with a pool of over $400,000) is truly amazing. If you want to compare that to hitting some jackpot on a slot machine or hitting the lottery, be my guest, but there is no comparison imo. Obviously on days where there are abundant short fields this type of opportunity does not exist, but on a holiday card with some large fields..............look what happened.

I agree, considering all the syndicates and wise guys involved, it was amazing this was hit ALONE

This is almost certainly incorrect.

Reminded me of Ron Paolucci's $549K single score.

5.50
3.10
5.30
1.90
4.60
11.50

Paolucci's ticket, which cost $1,764, correctly picked the winners of Races 3-8 Thursday: Race 3, Misspent Youth, $13; Race 4, My Perfect Graydar, $8.40; Race 5, Clever Serve, $12.60; Race 6, Strike Silver, $5.80; Race 7, Bonnie Arch, $11.20; and Race 8 Mucho Mas Grande, $25.
