Appreciation of Home Value

I am just shocked at the house market out there and the appreciation of these homes.. We bought our home last June and were working on getting a home equity loan to consolidate and to finish the basement. We had their appraiser come to appraise our home.. Was shocked to find out it appraised for $51,000 more than we paid for it.. And this is in 17 months..

Of course the reality is that this is right in line with everything else around here, so you don’t really gain a lot in the way of an edge..

True around here in Westchester County as well. You wouldn't believe what our little ranch home is worth!!

One reason we're looking at moving -- before the boom busts. Of course you can't move around your own area because you can't afford anything. There's the rub.

I know, that is the flipside.. Your house appreciated so much, but you can't reap any profit because every other home in the area appreciated accordingly..

But it certainly does enhance the home equity loan possibilities :-)

Move to Texas and get 2 to 3 times the house you have now and money left over.;)
