Wow, Ken Camminiti dead tonight of a heart attack...

If this isn't a wakeup call to steroid freaks in MLB, I don't know what is....

Interesting... I keep hearing that steroids don't help your performance in baseball, in regards to hitting homeruns, bat speed, etc..

But, Caminitti said :

"In May 2002, Caminiti told Sports Illustrated that he used steroids during his MVP season, when he hit a career-high .326 with 40 home runs and 130 RBI. He estimated half the players in the big leagues were also using them."

This leads me to wonder, what exactly is the edge of steroids in a sport like baseball??

His cocaine usage wasn't exactly good for the heart either.

Shocked to read this...Pretty sad, I remember that great season he had back in 96...

Cocaine wasn't helping, but steroids was a quick path to the harder stuff..

Hard to believe just 8 years ago he was the NL MVP.

Get used to it. I think there are a bunch of "Lyle Alzado" types out there. We have been watching them for a while now. When they start dropping off early...............you will see more of these headlines..............

ESPN did a piece on this last night. Jeremy Schaap did some investigating on it. He interviewed the guy who was with Caminiti when he died. This was a guy who recently was released from prison for drug offenses.

Schaap: "Do you think Ken Caminiti did drugs that night?"
Ex-con friend: ah.....................no

Maybe Caminiti was betting races from Hong Kong. That might explain the $1000 cash advance at 5 am.

Its official: it was cocaine; not a heart attack
