Last weekend at Golden Gate Fields, Joaquin Jaime was going on about their turf course, and how it is a distinctive fescue/bluegrass mix, and is kept cut to a length of 6" - longer than a typical turf course.
Jaime claims that these characteristics make the turf course at GG more "European," which I'm inferring that he's saying it's more durable than other American turf courses, and therefore, leading to fewer races needing to be taken off the grass when it rains.
Is Jaime right? And is my inference accurate as well?
