Hello again good people - :)

A heads up to those interested on this board.
We're having another of our special handicapping contest
on a Mountaineer Park race on Monday evening.

Several PA guys participated with us at Thoroughbred Champions last time
and if you still remember your password you're more than welcome to do it again.

Besides bragging rights as "top dog",
the top scorer will receive a high quality 8 x 10 photograph from Exclusively Equine.

The puzzle looks like it will be the featured 9th race,
an allowance route - nonwinnners of 4 lifetime.
More details on the contest race can be found here:

The BRIS past performances are up and it is indeed the featured 9th race:
http://www.brisnet.com/Promo/Free_PPs/mnrcomp1004.pdf

The weather forecast calls for a cool crisp autumn evening.
The track should be listed as fast.
The favorite is Little Nicky Regs, a stretchout candidate,
who is going two turns on the main track for the first time.
Trainer Rod Madrigal sr. is clicking at a 15% rate doing the sprint-sprint-route.
Will he or won't he?

Players have already begun posting their plays:

What do the Mountaineer experts here think of the race ? http://www.hoc-board.de/phpBB2/smilies/gemein/naughty.gif

The #2 El Merlot looks tough. The AP shipper has tactical speed which should be advantageous at the 1 Mile distance. His Beyers and Pace Figures at the distance look very strong. He's the 4-1 second choice on the ML , but the public will probably send him off at 9-5 or less.

Alright people - Here's my brief take on this puzzle.

There's no less than 5 horses going sprint to route in this one
and the pace figures to be above average.
Looking for a horse that will rate in the second tier,
I found Beaugar hidden at a square price of 8/1
for trainer Louis Ruberto jr. He's a part owner of this horse
along with his wife Sharon and I figure he's got no pressure
to run him before it's time.

Beaugar comes off a short rest here.
The last time he had a 45+ day break he won for fun by 10 lengths.
So I'm going to post my play simply:

$50 win + $50 place #3 Beaugar

That along with the stipulation of "for entertainment purposes only." LOL http://www.hoc-board.de/phpBB2/smilies/zwinker/zwinker.gif

We've got 18 players entered already as of this posting
and the thread will remain open right up until post time 10:20 pm ET.
How do YOU see the race ?

Alrighto - we've got a full field of 10 going into the gate this evening.

No scratches in the featured 9th race at MNR.
The track is listed as FAST
and there is one reinsman correction:
1 WAR BOUNTY jockey changed to Luis Gonzalez

This contest race will be televised on TVG / HRTV
and viewable via the webcast link posted on the invite.

Since some of you seem to be having logging on problems
the official scorer will accept the plays posted in this thread
at PA and will remain open right up until post time
which is approximately 10:20 pm ET / 7 :20 pm PT.

The bouncing back and forth between two different threads
will slow the scorer down but we hope to get an accurate
leaderboard up within one hour of the race.

please do not exceed the allotted $100 cyberdollars
or risk disqualification

Good racing luck to all players and a safe trip to all the horses. :)

ATTN: all contest players here.

To ensure accuracy of the plays made over here at PA,
the official scorer will accept plays made before 10:15 pm ET only.

Any plays time-stamped after that will be rendered void.
We hope to have the leaderboard up by 11:30 pm ET.

Thanks. ;)

My redboard:

Only real closer in a race full of speed/sprinters. That how you picked him, Shanta?

Andicap,
He was the top ranked horse on Validator 3 and all screens showed him VERY STRONG in this matchup.

Trip handicappers must have made note of the show horse
Ebben Estoora who got hung out to dry on the first turn
yet made a solid showing. I thought he was the proverbial "best horse".

Unfortunately, this is Mountaineer and these horses will
probably get a lengthy rest again before being loaded into the gate.
Some will hold their form others won't.
It's difficult to say if Ebben Estoora
will duplicate a winning effort next out.

This is the second time our Monday Night Madness contest
throws a double-digit winner at Mountaineer Park.
A very difficult one to come up with based upon statistics alone.

ATTN: Shanta

Since I don't see a PM button in your profile,
feel free to PM me and we'll send you your rightful prize
from the vaults of Exclusively Equine.

Good job and thanks to all those who participated. http://www.hoc-board.de/phpBB2/smilies/zwinker/thumb.gif
