From the Executive Summary.....

"Handle and Purses
The 1990s witnessed rapid growth in the total amount of handle wagered on Thoroughbred wagering. Even as the total number
of Thoroughbred races consistently declined, the total amount of handle consistently increased. For example, from 1995 to 2003
the total number of Thoroughbred races declined from roughly 62,000 to less than 54,000, a decrease of approximately 14%.
However, total handle grew from approximately $10.4 billion in 1995 to roughly $15.2 billion in 2003, an increase of nearly 46%.
This means that the total handle per Thoroughbred race has grown dramatically from roughly $168,000 per race in 1995 to
nearly $284,000 per race in 2003, an increase of 68.7%. "

So although the purses decreased 1.7% in 2003 compared to 2002 while the handle increased .8%, in light of the above, I'd like to know the % increase in purses from 1995 to 2003
