He has removed the name Kerry from his campaign ads to try to boost his effort to gain reelection. Apparently, the Kerry name is thought to be a bad thing for him to attach himself to during his bid!

He also has TV commercials that show him hugging -- HUGGING -- President Bush...

he's being realistic.
Kerry has no chance of carrying South Dakota, is not especially popular there.
It's a time-honored tradition of local pols to distance themselves from national candidates who aren't that popular. I'm sure a Republican running in Rhode Island, Maryland, or New York would take the same strategy -- distance himself from Bush.

I guess Giuliani never wants to run for everything again.. Seeing as how he is one of Bush's biggest supporters..
