FG race 4 today

John G. Dooley tweets...
Just confirmed by the FG Stewards that Irad Ortiz, Jr. spoke to them post La-bred sprint confirming he misjudged finish in 4th race on Charge The Line. He was apologetic and the FG Stewards are weighing their options.

Interesting title of the thread. You don’t think he really misjudged it?

Just watched the replay couple times. We all make mistakes one way or the other.

:8: was winning that race either way. Suspend him from running at FG for 30 days  or have him forfeit his earnings from that race.

I'm surprised that this didn't happen in a 1-mile race, which would have substituted the 16th pole for the regular finish line - something that Hawthorne, which has a strikingly similar layout to the Fair Grounds, doesn't do.

Anything that potentially causes more confusion is a bad idea.

Don't most jurisdictions honor other suspensions?

It his only a couple strides before he realized the other horse has not stopped, and he did whip a couple more times.

His big jockey standing lead at Gulfstream is dwindling, with Luis Saez rapidly catching him.
