There was an interesting article today in the Minneapolis Star Tribune by Greg Gordon.

The perception in thsi country is that we have an abundance of activist judges legislating from the bench.

However, I found the following from Mr. gordon's article interesting:

Supreme Court (7 of 9 judges appointed by Republicans)

Federal judiciary

Circuit Court (96 of 179 appointed by Republicans)
Circuit Court (68 of 179 appointed by Democrats)
Circuit Court (15 vacancies)

Distrcit Court (356 of 680 appointed by Republicans)
District Court (309 of 680 appointed by Democrats)
Distrcit court (15 vacancies)

US Court of International Trade (4 of 9 appointed by Republoicans)
US court of International Trade (5 of 9 appointed by Democrats)

In other words of 877 federal judiciary appointments- 463 were appointed by Republicans and 384 wre appointed by Democrats with 30 vacancies.

I was amazed by this. It appears that the judcial branch as well as the executive and legistaltive branch is totoally run by Republicans. Now I understand why the coutnry is in such a mess. These dang Republican activist judges.

Who appoints a judge is not relevant. What that judge does once appointed is.
