David Jacobson, the leading trainer by wins on the New York Racing Association circuit from 2012-14, has retired from training.

Although he still is involved in racing as an owner, the conditioner who won two grade 1 races since 2013 and earned more than $8.3 million in purses in 2014 said Jan. 2 his departure comes because the game—specifically in New York—has become "unfeasible" for "smaller horsemen."

But he's still going to own horses. The feasibility of owning is worse than training.

As an earlier poster said, more to come.its only non-feasable if you are paying trainers high day rates that don't produce with these purses.

i know guys that are buying Jersey breds for close to nothing and are going to race at Monmouth this summer at the bottom and have a shot at taking down over $20k with bottom horses.
