JR posted of this earlier. Looks like FOX News will run a series on this topic starting Sunday morning.

Looking at some links provided at the bottom of the page, it appears there's something to this.... If this can be confirmed, who needs an October surprise?

Transcripts of Bin Laden's many propaganda and recruting tapes have revealed an idealogical hatred towards Saddam and his "infidel" Baath regime and also towards the Saudi Royal Family of "infidels" who run Saudi Arabia.

There are two common explanations for why Baathist regime monies and Saudi Royal monies found their way into conduits that distributed funds to Al Qaeda (among other terrorist organizations like Hizballah):
1) The Sadat Effect: in the wake of Sadat's assassination, Arab money to extreme fundamentalists has been paid like protection payments to gangsters.
2) Overriding Hatred: Anti-Israeli/American sentiments override any and all other causes (including bitter animosities between Arab/Muslim factions).

Idealogically, many analysts agree that the Baathist leaders and Saudi Royals were/are on Bin Laden's hit list, beginning right under the names of American, British, and other leaders of Western-culture nations.
