Does anyone have the book/system called "Angles A-Z" by Noel Michaels?
I will trade for it because I would like to use it when I am handicapping Oaklawn in January. Or any good system for me that you think is good for me is another good trade. PM or put it on this thread....

Thanks, and hopefully this does not get taken down by PA for secret trading :pound:

You were looking for a spot play?

Here's an easy method that can and will produce winners (from PHILLIPS RACING NEWSLETTER)

1- HORSE MUST HAVE FINISHED IN-THE-MONEY IN IT'S LAST RACE

2-HORSE'S LAST-RACE ODDS MUST BE LOWER THAN TODAY'S MORNING LINE ODDS.

3-HORSE MUST HAVE BEEN FAVORITE IN AT LEAST 1 OF HIS LAST 3 RACES

4-ANY CONTENDER THAT PASSES ALL 3 RULES IS YOUR PLAY.

5-MORE THAN 1 QUALIFIER? PASS THE RACE

Good Luck

Maybe a better spot play BY YOU instead of Philips Newsletter

I get the idea you don't get many winners--you need to start somewhere. This method can be tweaked if you know what you're doing (which I doubt).

Good luck

Ok then since I am a dumb person according to you, how do you tweak it then.

Wouldn't it be easier for you should just ask Greg to make your bets for you? Do you have an aversion to research and hard work? You were given a spot bet play system but somehow managed to find fault with it without trying it. You had better learn how to "tweak" your handicapping or you might as just well paint a big "L" on your forehead.

To "tweak" a system you will need test data from a good number of races where there is a qualifying horse. The amount of data that you can utilize is endless. From your collection of races you will hopefully find certain data that is found significantly more often with either the winners or the losers. Obviously if the data points to more losses then eliminate those horses. QED

Well first off, I am in school and I enjoy every minute someone says something to me (no matter how mean) and I don’t really have the time to really test how well the spot play does. Maybe you give it a go and report back! Cheers!

Ok then since I am a dumb person according to you, how do you tweak it then.

Add two or three more angles to the list such as.....

* If horse is dropping in class, he had to have been within 3 lengths of the leader at the 2nd call last out.

* Horse coming out of a potential key race in one of its last two races (look at the top three finishers to the right and see if two or more are in italics.

If you have 8 angles let's say....if a horse meets 4 or more of those angles, make him a contender.

Now evaluate ONLY your contenders.....

Look at other areas (trainer stats, workouts, final fractions, value line, etc...).to determine your plays.

You must have your own angles / methods. Weren't you advertising your selections on DRF not long ago?

But then....you have to test it as Andy mentioned above. If you have time for the action, you have time to record results as well.

This system is not likely to lead to chalk plays because of rule #2.

Don't worry, your time will free up considerably once you have to get a job and work 40+ hours per week. And then even more so if you get married and have a family. Fortunately most of us on the forum retired right out of high school and were able to spend countless hours testing our spot plays.

I love your assumption that we're all retired. I still have another 15 or so years before I can say that.

I tend to agree somewhat but It will not lead you to too many 10-1 shots either. The issue I see is passing the race if more than one horse qualifies. It's difficult to find that race where only one qualifies and it is not the first or second choice. That is if you're making smaller WIN plays. If you're keying in exotics that's a different story. However, you still need to find the underneath horses.

Clearly you didn't pick up on my facetious comment about most of us retiring right out of high school. Your available time to do things like handicapping research may never be greater than it is right now. You certainly have found time to make many posts in this forum.

Ok fair enough. And I am only posting when all work is done or free time at school. That is why I post. Again, I appreciate you replying no matter how strong.

My opinion of the above is there are an infinite number of factors to consider, therefore it cannot be limited to any list.

Think and therefore you might win.
