Interesting races set up by yesterday's primary results.

We're going to have a Trump vs. Sanders proxy battle as Donald's man DeSantis squares off against Bernie's guy Gillum for the state house. At the same time, term-limited Gov. Scott will try to unseat Nelson in the Senate.

Eyes will be on the Sunshine State for sure - 2000 without the hanging chads.

I’d bet on a Donald guy against a Bernie guy any day of the week

Florida is a Red state. I'll put my money DeSantis. Scott needs a Hail Mary.

And Mary has been pushing up daises for centuries. :coffee:

Well, the got a few Bernie people to vote in a primary.
LAst week of summer, probably not of people who will be voters cared.

I would imaging they somehow tied in a ride to the Early bird dinner with a primary vote. Maybe even a ticket to the desert bar. :p

You got the advantage of being on the ground in that state, what chance do you give to the socialist Mike? %?

All depends on the turnout - Florida is not, of course, a red state for top of the ticket positions, but pretty much split. I would think both candidates need to worry about being too far "out there."

But you would not even give him a 50/50 shot, or are you thinking less percentage?

The socialist has about a ten percent chance.

If DeSantis keeps yapping clumsily, Gillum's got a real good chance.

I will be paying close attention to the amount of money the DNC puts into the gubernatorial race and the senate races...... it should be interesting. Also, the vote totals between Nelson and Gillum....should give some very good insights.:popcorn:

Here is what DeSantis said.

"Let’s build off the success we’ve had on Gov. Scott. The last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases bankrupting the state. That is not going to work,".

How is the above racist?

I can't remember a time in my 64 years when I've heard anyone say 'don't monkey this up'. Having lived in Florida 9 years, I assure you it's not just a Florida thing. Don't screw it up, don't **** this up, don't mess this up... yes I have heard these.

The use of 'monkey' when referring to the policies of an African American looks incredibly insensitive.

I hear it all the time in Massachusetts, and several variations of it. You think your special, we can get any monkey on 28 to do that job.

Several things from New England your not likely to hear like "Cool Beans" and other sayings while working in Boston for 25 years.

So do not take it personal but slightly younger and have heard that exactly and more.

Howard Cosell describing the Washington Redskins black WR Alvin Garrett as a "little monkey" got him in trouble back in rhe day.

As for Florida I was getting these slick full color oversized mailers for a couple of Democratic candidates, Philip Levine and Jeff Greene a couple of times per week.God knows how much that cost, not to mention the countless TV ads.Greene was trying to portray Levine as Trump in Democrats clothing.I stopped paying attention after awhile.

He is referring to how well things are going in the Florida economy. To" monkey this up" is a phrase often shortened from " throwing a monkey wrench" into something already functioning properly.

p.s. If you hear the word monkey and immediately think african -american person, you're the racist, Dummies.

I couldn’t figure out why he even brought up monkey. So I did some digging and found out he is a black candidate lol. I didn’t even know the color of his skin. It certainly didn’t matter to me

It is not.

Some folks lack reading comprehension, or, they like to twist words in an effort to stir things up because they have no game otherwise.

The racist part is those who say it is racist.
What a low opinion they have of Black people.

Standard case of Republican candidates saying stupid stuff...

Like when the Tea Party ousted the solid Red seat of Lugar to run Richard "Rape Baby" Mourdock and give away a seat.

Ironically, Mourdock and Donnelly, his challenger, had the EXACT SAME position on the issue... just one of them was stupid enough to say it though...

Sometimes we just can't help ourselves... :bang:
