History is rewritten. On a momentous day, under heavy rain, in front of a more than 157,000 crowd, the WinStar Farm, China Horse Club, Starlight Racing, Head of Plains and SF Bloodstock owned Justify defied what was regarded as one of the best fields in modern times to win the 144th Kentucky Derby. In doing so Chinese won America’s greatest race for the first time and now have a taste for what the Derby is all about. Nothing will be the same again.Last week in the racing folder I posted this story from the NYT about the China Horse Club. A lengthy indepth story of the 200 millionaires/billionaires of China who became only interested in our racing a short three years ago. Their money makes its way here via St.Lucia and the Caymans.

PA is kind regarding "free speech so I can say I'm sorry but I didn't like Winstar selling to them and I like it even less now after reading China Horse Club's founder's quote on their FB page.

I'll ask you all because this is another time, I don't know, I'm not at all sure. How many other American sports franchises are owned by the Chinese? Justify and his breeding syndicate WILL be a franchise.

This is the link I posted in the prior thread in racing.

I see nothing about that quote that is disturbing.

I am not sure your angle......is this an anit chinese issue or anti-wealth issue, pro-american protectionist?

Horse racing has been littered with money that could have been earned in less then honest ways.

I read the article as saying this group of people dont like the tax and socialist policies of their country so they are laundering it through these islands. Thats really non of my concern.

That's just how it is in this country. At least foreign investors still want a piece of us. Hell, they own much of the real estate and some highways for crying out loud. When things start going south and they want nothing to do with our assets........then its time to worry because we owe them trillions.

Americans only think for the "moment" and that blind spot could be our undoing. If they start selling to get the hell out.........start worrying.

Burnsy, I agree and understand all you've said. Everything we have is for sale. Though, I hope with the aging of some of our NFL owners, they don't buy one of our franchises.

GMB called it, dead on the money. I'm an American protectionist. :)

When the Japanese and the oil money starting buying horses in the late 80's or so I didnt think it was an issue, and this just seems like people spending their money. I never thought what they were doing was wrong.

They hit a home run here, I am sure there will be many strike outs as well.

the Chinese are worse than the Dubainians. Even as recently as 8 years ago Dubia still had all of those little 5yo boy/sex slave camel jockies. Real Sports caught them twice in 10 years. Really, really sick. Supposedly now they have robots but since they were found not too long ago to have thousands a southeast Asian construction workers kept as slaves, who knows.

At least China isn't ruled by an absolute hereditary monarch in the 21st century. It has its problems but it has at least moved beyond the Forbidden City.
