“We’re going to convert the seven-eighths-mile track back to a turf course,” Lawson said. “If thoroughbred racing is near and dear to you, you understand turf racing is what people want to do. It’s what a lot of horses want to do.”

Best place to stay - Comfort Hotel - I stay on the 6th floor and can watch the races and morning works right from my room window. A mile or so down Rexdale is the BEST steak sandwich I ever had in a little dive place. they have the DRF logo sticker on the door, but don't sell them anymore. Still, makes you feel welcome.

I'd be leery of a steak sandwich in a dive place that close to a horse track.

The second course will let them run turf sprints. Something I don't think they can on the main turf course.

Should help business, I would think.

That's a funny one Clocker.

They run 6 on the main turf, and tried shorter running clockwise but thankfully ended that.

Isn't the second turf course just the original? They are replanting the grass.

They are replanting the grass. The current course use to cross the dirt strip and hook up with the infield course just like at Santa Anita. They then built the turf the dirt course, and turned the original turf course into a harness track. Just wondering, if they will run 2-turn races on it, or just sprints.

They also used the course as the dirt track when they were converting the main to synthetic.

Frost king,

Of course they'll run two-turn races on the new turf course. As Tom said there's going to be a lot of turf racing at Woodbine. I guess with Mohawk Park taking over the winter harness dates everything works out quite agreeably, somehow.
