Check out the payoffs for the 10th race at Ellis Park on 8/27/04. There must be some happy campers somewhere. The tri and super were both one ticket payoffs. The odds of the first three finishers were 110, 52 & 32-1.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that. The tri has to be some sort of record.

Over $250,000

It was actually only half that much ($127,510.50) because there was only $163,475 in the pool. There was only one $1 winning ticket so it took the whole pool minus takeout. Don’t know why some tracks continue to report a $2 payoff in these instances when they know there was never a $2 winning ticket out there. Indicating that there is twice as much in the pool as there actually is, in these one $1 winning ticket situations, has always struck me as fraud.

Depends what you're looking at the data for. I list all my exotic payoffs in my DB at $2 regardless of pool or track rule on listing. This is solely for a common frame of reference when comparing internal and external parlays. I don't care what the person actually took home (well...as long as it isn't me :)). Honestly I think all should be reported on a common level for all bets, be it $1 or $2
