Fractional Wagering

A little greyhound track in New Hampshire is trying something new! Hinsdale lets you wager on superfectas for a dime! This is in some other countries called "fractional betting." I hope the thoroughbreds pick this idea up in the U.S. from Hinsdale. The Hinsdale management is to be commended for innovation.

No longer done that way for some time. IIRC, there was a total minimum you had to play on one ticket. I think there was as much handle before as after, so they went back to dollar minimums.

Let's make Steve Crist stand behind someone struggling to make their 10 cent bets. I don't think this would alleviate the problem of bet machine hogs taking everyone's time putting in $3 worth of bets. Now if they give us all handheld terminals and the computers to run them, I wouldn't object.

there was a time when some of the casinos would give you 10 cent chips. you could bet roulete, craps, blackjack, and the big wheel. i think it went on from like 5 oclock to about 7 or 8 oclock. yeah it was like the slow-time happy hour. and i'll tell ya, $50 worth of 10 cent chips got ya all kinds of blue chips, green chips, red, white and pink chips, i mean land sakes alive child, all these chips stacked up as pretty as you please, you just couldnt help but being totally impressed with yourself. :D honest

Balmoral (harness) in Illinois has a 'bet 9 for a dime' wager.. You have to bet the pick 9, and it costs $.10 per combination..

I have seen the carryover in the $3K range..

The last race every day at all tracks should be for cheap maidens with fourteen horses and tri and super bets, ten cent bets allowed just to give us old bums a chance to cash and dream.:D
