When things are this important, you don't want to let anyone off the hook, now do you? Consider too that up to this point a large section of the public has been largely unaware of what has been going on, and they need sufficient time to digest and comprehend the truths and seriousness of the crimes.

Look at the Hillary investigation. They let months go by as she deleted emails to get the emails supposedly turned over to them. They then go more months before they interview the target of their investigation. That's just screwed up.

I'd disagree about going at a glacial pace being a benefit. It gives time for destruction and obstruction and to conspire with stories and to think of alibis. If you want to find out the truth, it's often best to strike fast and stay ahead of those you're investigating. And all this time for the public to digest just plays into the hands of the guilty. One of their ways to win, particularly in the political arena is to deflect and confuse, and the more time they have to do that, the more confused the public becomes and they also tire of it and just want it to go away.

This is taking way, way too long for me to have any confidence that the public will ever be given anything convincing and decisive.
