The siding switch was locked so that Amtrak train ran into stopped freight train - they are not saying, but most assume terrorism....

Good stuff Dan. Keep that list up to date.

Dave might be tongue in cheek, but right-wing talk show fixture Michael Savage tweeted that it could be the work of ISIS or ANTIFA.

Going to turn out (pardon the pun, if you get it) to be human error on the part of a CSX dispatcher or other employee. Amtrak not at fault - they are subject to the vagaries of the host freight railroads they travel on, except for the relatively small % of trackage that they actually own.

Who knows...maybe I was wrong...maybe davew was serious...don't see how given the article.

from the article I quoted (not that NPR libfest)

The head of the National Transportation Safety Board said a switch on the tracks, which the freight hauler CSX Corp (CSX.O (https://www.reuters.com/finance/stocks/overview?symbol=CSX.O)) owns and operates, was padlocked in a position that steered the Amtrak train onto a siding near South Carolina’s state capital Columbia, where it crashed into a stationary unoccupied CSX train.

I heard (but did not see) that the padlock should not have been on a switch to a frequently used siding AND it was not a CSX padlock (so many figure was placed there by someone who knew what they were doing and what the result would be - especially at the time in early morning :( )

We've been hearing for months from lamestream media sources that "Trump colluded with Russia" with absolutely zero confirmation, verification or corroboration. "I guess that is all the sourcing you need." :coffee:
