Late Changes - why the secrecy?

Santa Anita today - 25 minutes to post - no late changes anywhere to be found

I noticed something similar at Gulfstream recently.

WHY SO SLOW?

No scratches on the card - highly unusual.

If they posted overweights and equipment
changes earlier, at least we'd know the full story. :bang:

Saw that too with Gulfstream, hopefully this is a one-off for the rest of the season, they usually have changes up a little over an hour before 1st post, they were a little slow on Friday & ridiculous on Saturday with changes being less than a half hour before races started, including a scratch in the 1st race. It is hard to understand how they continue to have such clown activity day in & out at that track.

I am already greatly fretting at the weather forecast for the upcoming rainbow dispersal on Sunday, a pretty high chance of rain as it stands now. Considering it's a bet where scratches don't cause refunds, I am scared of them getting all the money in the pool & then haphazardly doing late surface changes as the day progresses.
