"Pet snake" is either an oxymoron or bad advice.

About 20 years ago I was acquainted with a woman who owned a pet pygmy anaconda. At about 6 feet long the thing was supposedly full grown. Its head was bigger than my hand. It managed to bite down on the woman's hand and would not let go. With the woman screaming in pain her boy friend and I and some other guys tried to pry the snake loose without success. We used tools, screwdriver, pliers, etc. to no avail. We finally took her to the emergency room where a doctor cut the snake's head off. The severed head would not let go so he then proceeded to cut the head up into little pieces. The woman was quite upset that the doc killed her snake.
