That 1914-18 war was started by a stupid hair trigger tripline and in the rear view mirror so many lives were lost. More than the twin towers in New York, day after day after day for 4 years. Such stupidity.
At that, the "Peace" was never attained, only sought through an Armistice on Nov 11 , 1918 with reparations from Germany which were stopped when Hitler came to power in the early 1930's.
The Korean War between North and South has not ended either, only suspended with an Armistice.
The WWI Generals should have been forced by the men on both sides to set the example. Send them out of the trenches. It didn't happen.
That may have been the worst war ever fought, including the Vietnam War which so many vets returned from with PTSD and are still suiciding.

War is Madness. But to defend Freedom of Speech and other rights it is sometimes necessary.

I have read and heard former American combatants exclaim, "War is hell!" That kind of madness must be hell.

Both sides should have shot the generals.
