For several years he was one of the top 5 pitchers in baseball.Also did a tremendous amount of charity work in both Toronto and Philiadelphia.He and Don Larsen the only two to throw a post season no hitter.One of the great ironies is that among pitchers with at least 50 innings pitched he had the WORST earned run average in baseball history, 10.64 his rookie season 2000.

I am absolutely heartbroken by the news, Doc was my all-time favorite Blue Jay.

The term “Ace” gets thrown around a lot in baseball, to the point where it makes me cringe, but Roy Halladay was the quintessential definition of the term “Ace”, a once in a generation talent.

His drive and his determination were second to none, and he carried himself with a lot of class throughout his career, Doc will always be a Legend in this city.

We miss you big guy.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. EST at Spectrum Field in Clearwater, Florida. The service will be open to the public.

Spectrum Field is located at 601 Old Coachman Road. The baseball stadium, which is home to Halladay’s former team the Philadelphia Phillies during Spring Training, has a capacity of 8,500.

Sportsnet in Canada will be televising the event starting at 3 pm EST, not sure if it is being televised in the U.S.

Learned long ago that looking up to athletes you don't really know is probably silly.

I remember as a kid watching a Dean Martin roast in which the guest of honor was Henry Aaron. Aaron had a cigarette going during the entire show. It rocked my world. I couldn't believe the all-time HR leader could smoke cigarettes. About a month later, I read an article on him and he was quoted as saying he hated the DH position because there was nothing to do between at bats but sit in the tunnel and smoke.

Totally shook my viewpoint of professional athletes.
