Doug Salvatore once posted that an Elmo doll knows more about auctions than Ultracapper, and he probably wasn't far off. Can somebody tell me if there is any significant difference between these two $40K purchases?

BARMAY16$40,000

OBSOPN16$40,000

Is a $40K purchase at one auction more prestigious, or does it hold any significance, compared to a $40K purchase at another auction?

I look at Auction price in comparison to Stud Fee, so if say the OBS was for a colt by Curlin could be bad, the BAR was for Cal Bred by Benchmark might be ok.

so is the question as follows?
Is one auction more prestigious then another?
Also see what day those horses went through the sale, if they were at the end then they are probably both equal.
The best thing you can do is attend an auction and see for yourself what really goes on there, my trainer once told me the final auction price is like a morning work, or don't believe everything you read!

Insignificant. Neither sale is prestigious , and neither purchase price is prestigious.
