Sad news for those of a certain age.

Jimmy Beamont of The Skyliners, a major pre-Beatles era rock 'n roll group from Pittsburgh, died Sunday at 76.

He was best known for the 1959 hit “Since I Don’t Have You,” a magical, tearful ballad that topped the Cashbox R&B chart and went to No. 3 on the Billboard R&B chart.

One of my all-time favorite lead singers of any group. Right up there with Dion Dimucci of the Belmonts, Johnny Maestro of the Crests and Brooklyn Bridge. A true legend of Rock N' Roll. He was still performing live up until recently.

I just watched this interview last week...
