When you say over do you mean longer than 9F or run at 9 furlongs?

MNR use to have a series of marathon races that I don’t see being carded anymore. They were fun.

Pomona was a 1/2 mile track and had 1-9/16 mile starter allowance races. In most of them the horses had to have started for very low amounts. Some of them were basically $3200 claimers. I strangely did well on those races. The stretch runs were the slowest I have ever seen a horse move in a race. For those who haven't heard of Pomona, in was lengthened to 5/8 and had a name change to Fairplex in the early 80's. It closed for good a couple years ago.

Should have been a little more clear, I meant more than 9F. Thanks for that, basically left with stakes races only for any horse that likes distance.

Every now and then, and I mean now and then, SA will card a 1 1/4 mile for first level allowance runners. I remember one for bottom level older maiden claimers at 1 1/4 mile probably 2 or 3 years ago. I think it had 8 or 9 starters also. Usually the allowance race will have 5 or 6 starters.

Can't fill them. Write it for 1 1/16 and they get 2 or 3 more entrants. Really they can't write anything over a mile in SoCal more than a couple times a month and fill it. They can fill 1 1/8 on turf pretty regularly, but dirt, no interest.
